Well my hood seems to have taken its share of abuse.

I've got stone chips, tons of swirls, and a few dull spots (not too sure how)

Can anyone recomend a products/processes that i can use to atleast try to remove some of these blemishes? Stone chips not so much of an issue, as i'll just go grab a paint pen, or factory paint in a bottle form mazda.

But in terms of swirl and dull spot removal can anyone give me some direction?

Black Mica is the color.

I'm gonna try and grab some pics later tomorrow once i get back from work.

I've heard NXT2.0 be thrown around in some threads, as well as mcguirs wax? But not too sure on the specifics.

thanks

Polishing paint can be a very delicate process. Removing swirls is an even more sensitive job.
If you are unfamiliar with such practices, you shouldn't bother to try doing it yourself. (I really don't know if you are or not, no pun or offense intended).

Swirls, depending on how bad they have saturated the paint surface, can be removed with minor polishing, or use of heavy compounds and a cutting pad using either a rotary or dual-action polisher.

Your off the counter polishing compounds will only do so much, as in fill the scratches/swirls in. To properly remove them, you need to cut the paint. This is best left to a pro.
Contact Kaval and he will guide you (I'm not local, so I cannot help you more than over-the screen).
He's a pro at this, and also very avid on the forum and all have had nothing but great things dealing with him.

+1 for Kaval @ Make it Shine.

I know first hand the damage that can be done to paint by letting someone unexperienced go at it. I had a so called "detailer" do my wifes car and it looks so bad now. Long story short, we're getting Kaval to go over it in the spring. He did my new MS3 and did a fantastic job.

Good luck.

An orbital polisher is your best friend.
This is not a hard job to do, by any means.

I used a product called Poor Boys SSR 2.5- I washed my car first , then applied this section by section with an orbital polisher I bought at CT. After 2 full passes on the car ALL the swirls, and spider webs were completely gone.It looked almost as if the car had a new paint job just done to it.
I followed this up with Collinite 476 - amazing wax that leaves a super gloss shine and lasts for 8-12 months.

Both of these products I bought online--- do some searching there are a few places in Canada, so you can avoid the US duties.

good luck - do this before it gets too cold.
My total cost with orbital was $60.
