View Full Version : What's there to do in Oakville
So i recently moved into oakville closer to work for the weekdays.
i need to find something to do besides taking work home or sitting and watching top gear reruns or sleeping at 10PM.
what's there to do? The community centres here suck balls compared to markham, library is puny, and yeah.
I'm looking for maybe drop in sport programs, someone suggested burlington community centres are better. I want something active but I don't do gyms as they are boring to me.
i wanted to come out to an oakville thursday meet but you guys are out giving blood. I don't do needles, sorry. I'll think about it next time and I was told I have the high in demand blood too....I think i'm O+

Okay well you gave us a few of your dislikes. Age? If you don't mind. And what did you do in Markham for fun? Oh btw, Mississauga > Oakville :)

Honestly?
For the past 10 years I didn't have too much a life and spent my afterhours working at community centres in Markham. Because that way I can participate in stuff for free as I teach programs or run them.
Age I'm almost quarter century.
and bubble tea is the biggest scam of the century but if i could i would open one shop up in oakville and make a killing. $5 for flavoured water.

I worked in oakville a couple terms ago (I'm a co-op student) and I know of a really good shwarma place. It's in the plaza with the gas station located at the North Service Road W and N intersection (off of Third Line). It's facing the gas station and it's near the center of the strip. Their chicken shwarma's are to die for.
Other then that, I agree with everyone else, Mississauga is your best bet (that's where I'm from. :))

a little OT but... which community centers are fun in Markham? (that do drop in sports?) I've only tried the ones that I have to sign up for 6 weeks +. Due to my work schedule I cannot commit to anything solid.

+1
and i'm from mississauga....
the place is becoming completely over-residentialized
it's insane and the infrastructure isin't there to support it either
every single empty space is having a house plopped onto it
even areas that were built 20 years ago
i see someone building 1 little house in the little bit of land that there is right by the street corner...
but in terms of "things" to do... yes mississauga has more
in oakville though, there's a pretty good bar on upper middle road called niblicks
they have good nachos there. it's near upper middle and grand.
ur next best thing is amc winston churchill... there's an outdoor vball site there that's open to use and some decent restaurants and ur typical movie theatre.
other than that
i wouldn't say sauga has much to offer other than the malls and outlets
to be truthful... that's all there is... and all of those areas are cesspools of cars and traffic.

ughhh I hate Mississauga. I spend like 80% of here (I live in Hamilton but have been working here 5 years) and I hate it. I could never see myself living in Sauga. bleh.
Lots of stupid drivers too LOL
oh there is nice outlets in Oakville near Burloak/QEW if shopping is your thing. And the new movie theatre in that same area is wikkid!

You speak of Royal Shwarma and it is awesome. I just came back from Agabi's off of Dorval/Lakeshore.
I already have a gf, she's in markham and works downtown.
shopping is no fun when i have no money.

No offence, but screw anyone that doesn't think Pita Nutsy is the number 1 shawarma place in all the land!
