So I hear that the new 09s mazda 3s now have a lighted vanity mirror. Can anyone confirm?
I wonder if they can be retro fitted to earlier models......

List is $97 each. Note that there are different ones for moon roof and no moon roof, plus you need to get the colour right.

I think I am going to tie them into the maplight feed, but I have to check the wiring diagram in case there is a better place.

Mechanically, as near as I can tell they should just bolt right in.

(And for all of us guys on TM3: women LOVE vanity mirrors! A hundred bucks to change out the passenger visor goes a long way to keeping the wife happy about upgraded rims, amps, short shifters, sharkfins...... :chuckle )

I have a 2008.5 Mazda3 Sport GT and I have the lighted vanity mirrors as well as the HID head lights with manual adjustment, centre armrest with cupholders that fold out from the rear seat middle section as well.

Anything else that you are interested in?

These came standard with my vehicle and I did not add the luxury package.

I wouldnt doubt that as my wife always uses one. A lighted feature will definitely please her but I think Im going to use that $100 to get my other mods in the car until she gets a bit pissy then I may surprise her!! :chuckle

I guess they somehow wire into the map lights/interior console. Can't wait to see them in your car..

Yep, I'm going to connect them to the supply for the map lights. I have to go down to Sayal or Active to look for a matching connector. If can't find one that fits properly I will just whittle down one that has the right pin spacing and expoxy it in. Since the wires need to flex and twist where they come through the tube I'd rather not clip the connector off and solder/shrink wrap longer wires.

go to the junk yard and find a 626 or something that has that connector... it's a pretty standard looking connector for a mazda

Noisy can you check for me what type of bulbs the vanity mirrors use?

Well, I know they are teeny little incandesent bulbs... I didn't pull the bulb to out, but here's a pic. (Also a preview of the installation instructions -- you can see how a made up a connector).
