View Full Version : Champian's Photoshop

Since I posted the Mazdaspeed desktop, I've been asked to "Photoshop" a bunch of images (I asked! For some reason I don't like Photoshopping my car, I think I'm too critical about it).

So this thread is to show what I've done with those images, to add comments (this is a learning experience for me) and for other users to add images that they want edited, or have edited themselves (for advice or just to show off). I haven't forgotten about anyone yet, just photoshopping takes a while and I have school and work (so if you sent me a photo, you might only see it in two weeks or so)!

So the first image I've completed is for 3GFX...

Before:

http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo359/SpelingChampian/TM3/0.jpg

After:

http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo359/SpelingChampian/TM3/3GFX_exposure1.jpg

Removing the reflections from the car was the longest part of the project, but I'm happy with how it turned out :)I always do multiple edits of the same shot, so if anyone is interested in seeing them, just send me a PM (they are similar, so no point posting!).

This one is for p-o-g-i :)

Given the resolution of the photo I used, I was unable to really remove the reflections without it going all pixely and ugly :(

Before:

http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo359/SpelingChampian/TM3/DSC04720.jpg

After:

http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo359/SpelingChampian/TM3/pogi.jpg

The higher res photos I get - the more I can do with them!

All I can say is "Super Fantastic"!!!!!
I understand what you were saying in regards to the higher resolution.... although I am happy with the turnout here. I'm curious now to know what you could have done if I gave you the actual original....?!?!?!?!? hahaha

Thanks again; much appreciated!!!!

I would have be able to remove the reflections on the windows/doors (like in my original post). Due to the low resolution, it's really hard for me to "redraw" the parts of the car that have reflections in them. With higher resolution pics, I can also incorporate other images into it as well (like another car), without losing any quality.

There are some workarounds to having a low resolution photo though :) If you noticed the reflections in the doors have been dimmed, and I retinted your windows too lol (but the result isn't the same as 3GFX's for example).

I'm not too sure about the background, but I'm amazed at how clean the work is on the car reflections, especially around the side repeater area. Well done!!! :)

Can't wait to see the rest!!!

While waiting I tried to creat a wallpaper for myself. I don't like my own work :p

The joys of photoshop allow me to undo anything :)Here is the photo with the "stock" background.

With regards to the reflections, it almost looked like your car had giant scratches in it, which looked very weird. I drew most of the side marker area by hand too :D

http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo359/SpelingChampian/TM3/3GFXnoexposure.jpg

I'm still trying to come up with a cool poster idea for you 3GFX...I'll post some rough drafts later on this week!

Would you like me to touch them up (like 3GFX's) - or turn them into a background?

Also , if anyone is wondering what is sucking up my time it's (this is all drawn in photoshop!):

I'm going to color it this weekend (please note that the sword and hair are missing lol)! You can see the step by step action in this album (http://s391.photobucket.com/albums/oo359/SpelingChampian/Photoshopped/).

Oh, the drawing is awesome! I'm very curious to see the sword.

Here is what I've done so far ... I haven't modified the car yet, as I just want to see if people like this background (I'm trying new things!). Constructive criticism is always welcome :blush.

S.F.W. - do you like this type of background - or would you like something more conservative?

That's kinda what I was looking for, I like it. Its seems very Japanease style which fits the car. Well, at least imho.

I wouldn't hid so much of SFW's rear though, seems ill proportioned.

Here is one I quickly did...I used a "Japanese" tree as the main part in the background... too tacky or? If you like, I'll try and remove the reflections off the hood/windows later this week.

I love that!!!! That's what I'm looking for, I kind of want to just go print a poster as it. I dunno if anything else can be done, maybe cleaning up the reflections and add some nice text. 3GFX or Mazda3 somewhere in there.

I almost want to venture to create a film strip type thing at the side or on the bottom to integrate the other pictures I sent you.

Dude you're awesome, how do you get that in there? Layers? Is that all drawn?

There are a bunch of different layers and no I haven't drawn them all. With Photoshop you can download "brushes" that have different shapes...there just happens to be a cool flower one (which I use for a lot of the backgrounds lol). If you have photoshop, I can send you the set I use (if anyone wants it for that matter just send me a PM).

I'll try and resize it to a much larger size later - for you to print as a poster, after I finish editing it. I'll twiddle with some text/photostrip things too. I should hopefully be able to do some of it this weekend.

I love that!!!! That's what I'm looking for, I kind of want to just go print a poster as it.

I was able to resize the image to my computer's dislike. The original filesize was 2.32 MB and roughly 7.5 by 5' (inches) and it is now 27.1 MB and roughly 37' by 24' (which is posterish size?). Just give the size of the file, I can't email, upload nor post the file anywhere, so I'll need to think of something (I think we might be able to transfer it via MSN or something).

Would you want bigger or not (the program I use allows me to get up to something crazy like 30,000 by 30,00 pixels (to give you an idea the one I resized is only a measly 13,000 by 9,000 pixels))?

Glad to hear the the exam is done and over with. I love the final version, but I have two requests that I forgot to mention when I spoke with you last. The text I usually use is "Vivaldi" or something script, if you could just do it horizantally in the bottom right somehow that would be great. If it doesn't work I'm good with the text now.

My other suggestion. If you want to scan and insert your signiture somewhere small and neatly in the image, go for it! I'd like to say that YOU did it for me when people see the poster. A straight initial or signiture, non-electronic like a true artist.

I use two methods - using Layer Masks, and the Pen Tool. If enough people are interested, I can try and make a basic Photoshop "how to", showing the techniques that I use.

Is that what you wanted with regards to the text? That's kind of the best I can do without actually purchasing the font online...if you think the text is a tad too blurry, let me know and I'll lower it. Once you zoom in to the regular size, you don't notice the blur.

Here are just some of the other things I'm working on at the moment (I haven't really had time to do much :( )...

Here is a really rough sketch for S.F.W. I'm trying to make it look like a Japanese watercolor or something similar... I haven't started working on the car yet - which is why it appears black and white. Do you like the background? Anywho - it's still in the sketch phase so I'm not afraid to start over if you don't like it.
