When you change lanes, make sure you have PLENTY of room, and see if you can judge whether or not someone is speeding in the lane you're changing into (my instructor failed me because I "cut" someone off - they changed lanes and changed back after to pass me).
When you're checking up on your side mirrors and rearview, make sure you actually move your head instead of using your eyes. Even though you're checkin' them, the instructor won't know unless you move your head. So make it obvious.
Don't speed. ;P
And I think with MT cars, you can't stall..(I might be wrong, I only drive AT)

Yeah, you should know all that stuff - also include in that list, parallel parking.

Here's some tips. You owe me a coffee for this.
* Do all your pre-drive procedures so the examiner 'SEE' you do it.
* Make small talk beforehand so the examiner is comfortable with you and vice versa.
* Always move your head to look at blindspots when u make a turn, the examiners are anal so they look for every little things. I got marks deducted for that even thou I KNOW there's no way a car was there.
* 3 second rule for full stop.
Optional.
* Pray that the examiner is a playboy centerfold and that the thought of driving her around in ur hot car makes it that much more enjoyable and relaxing taking the test.
* Make a list of what to say to the examiner if you fail, i.e. that they're anal degenerate sub human. etc. (just hope u don't get him/her next time)
* Make a list of momma jokes, see above.
* Crumple exam paper and toss it in their face.

As long as you make them feel comfortable then you'll be fine. Like everyone has said, use your head to look and not just your eyes. The G test aint that bad so im sure you'll do fine. Remember, the right lane is your best friend.

go to the mto @ vic park and lawrence during a weekday from 8-12. the dvp is usually not congested at that time and the instructer will most likely tell u to head north bound and exit at york mills and re-enter the dvp and head back to lawrence. Also when merging into the highway make sure u accelerate enuff for a safe lane change. hope this helps and good luck. oh and book in adv cuz usally there is a one month waiting list.

I don't think down shifting really matters. If you are concerned about taking your hands off the steering wheel while shifting always start in 2nd or 3 rd so no need to remove your hands while driving...:bana2
Good luck

Make sure you show up REALLY REALLY drunk and late.
just joking. just remember your mirrors and drive smart. They love things exact (speed, turning, blind spot checks). When I took my test, he was watching me every time I made a lane change.

When I did my G test in October of 07 I did it with a MT. You have to downshift into first Gear when coming to a stop. Stopping in neutral isn't acceptable. Also you have to start moving in 1st gear. They do allow you to ahve your hand off the sterring wheel for so many seconds so you can shift but if you keep your hand on the shifter then they start deducting points. Always make sure that your shoulder checks are visible to the instructor. I failed my G road test the 1st time I took it. I ended up taking 2 x 2 hour prep courses for my G test before going for the 2nd time. Good luck.

I took my G in an auto. When I was learning at Young Drivers, they didn't like you riding the gears or the clutch.

If you are so worried about taking your test with all the added pressure of driving a manual why don't you just borrow or rent an auto for the test and you'll probably have no worries then. I know several people who drive MTs as their cars but took ATs to their driving tests.

Make turns into the correct lane.
When I took my test I had to make a left turn from a two lane off ramp to a three lane street. I was following the car infront of me and turned into the middle lane instead of the left lane. My instructor mentioned it but no points were deducted because I said I didn't know the area and was following the car in front.

Just relax. I passed my G test on a GM Safari, just to give you an idea of the pressure i felt, man it was like driving a school bus. However like some people have said; Just relax. If you make them feel secure and you look confident in the drivers seat, you'll be fine.

The most important thing is body movement. Exagerate every move you do double check so the instructor notices you checking every blindspot. Someimes the instructor misses what you do because he is wrting something down, and might miss seeing u check your blindspot. Good luck and tell us how it went

The following is a sneaky one to pay attention to:
Remember to turn your wheel to the proper direction when parking uphill and downhill. (The rule is the front wheels of your car should roll into the curb if your car ever went into neutral.)
