A little help w/ prepaid cell phones.....

Is it possible to buy a prepaid cell phone from best buy/future shop and insert an activated (with a plan) SIM card?

If it's the same company's SIM card (IE: fido phone with fido sim card) you should be ok... one would think anyway. I've switched phones (mind you, all my phones are unlocked) and have used the same SIM card all the time and it has never given me problems.

That's what I thought....Roger's prepaid phone, Roger's SIM card, but I have a feeling that it wouldn't work because it would be a locked phone.....right?

I just want a cheap cheap cheap phone for $50 bucks or less...it's for my mom and she doesn't need special apps and so forth....

I just called Best Buy and they said I can use it.. it is locked...but as long as I use a Roger's phone with a Roger's SIM card.

Yeah I used my plan SIM in my sister's Pay as You Go phone to download her ringtones one time.

So yeah they work, as long as it's the same providers.

I tried once using a Rogers SIM in a Fido phone and it didn't work. I was sad (since technically they are the same company now)

Unlocked phones should accept any SIM card that's inserted into them. Unlocked phones are hard to come by though.
