I don't know if it is the angle you took the pic of the new 3 but it seems horribly unproportioned. The front curves, bulges, and flaired arches seems totally alien compared with the rest of the car.
there is no flow, its as if they redesigned the front and just slapped the rest of the old car onto the new front end.

The smiling grill kills the aggressive look for me, but I'm in love with the headlamps! It just wasnt enough to justify me waiting.

That's exactly what it looks like. The front and rear of the car are new but the middle section from the A-pillar to the C-pillar is largely unchanged.

Looking at the new 3 makes me instantly nauseous, they should have the designers checked for substance abuse! :loco ....Its' Farking horrible!

wow people really hate the new mazda 3 especially when it looks like it smiling at you. the only way to play off the smiling car is to drive it down Sesame street so all the kids can smile back at it. As for the the fog lamp area..whats the point of having such a huge air duct and the foglight takes up less than 10% of it:loco i dunno im not really feeling the new mazda 3 anymore needs more boldish styling IMO

ouch! I had some high hopes for the new sedan but that front and side view are making me wonder what the designers were thinking.

Let's hope that it looks better in person or is one of those cars that grows on you after a while?

I've said it before and I'll say it again - even if I'm the only one, I think Mazda did a great job on this car. You guys are entitled to your opinions but I think the design follows through on exactly what Mazda has been working towards with their concepts.

I'll give you that much. But it's still not as clean of a design as the current models. I think people wouldn't hate it half as much if it didn't smile at you. All it really needs is a front re-do. And that's it. The interior is quite nice, and the new features are fantastic.

I agree. Interior is good, features are probably good but the exterior is pretty much junk. Even the side and rear ain't as good as the current models. So many people say "I kind of like the rear". Why do you "kind of like it"? Why isn't it amazing and wants to make you buy one? 90% of the TM3 members here think its ugly as fck, there must be something wrong...

Very true Matt. Most people do hate it here, and also 90% of us are 3 or Speed3 owners. So if the customers who were loyal to Mazda's older designs are wrong then who is right?

I honestly think if there was another bumper on it it would make a world of difference. You mark my words, before the car is released there will already be aftermarket bumpers released for the 2010. I'd buy one for sure (maybe a 2012-2015 model since mine is a 2008.5) and then just replace the bumper. It'd be worth it for me. Couple thou to make the car look "proper" it'd be worth it for me.

Although I'm sure another bumper would increase the appeal to a lot of people at the moment, I don't think there is any way aftermarket ones will be released by the time the car is out. Mazda hasn't been working with any aftermarket companies with this car, so no one has the measurements to create anything with. Even if you started now you'd need a few months to get anything into production.

Whatever you want to call them, I personally think they are quite nice. One of the few things the car has going for it.

I actually like the mazda concept cars, but not really feeling the new mazda 3. They should have either kept changes to the minimal, or change it more. The new mazda 3 seems to keep the old shape, only changing the front to make it unproportional.

The same smile on the furai in my opinion actually looks pretty good.

from the side, it almost looks SUV like. A cross between a cx7 and rx8. Not liking the look at all. I think its the huge fog light trim that throws it off. I hope they get the speed version right.
