Allen, most of the reviews here, that aren't malicious, came from people who were actually on the hunt for a car and were surprised that the cars could not be test driven, had terrible body work, and rude customer service, among various other bad practices. No one is intentionally out to hurt their business, people came here to give their opinion and write about their experience. Downsview tends to do things backwards, and if it works for them, then that's fine. This threads purpose is supposed to serve as a warning to potential customers, rather than act as a 'hate' thread.

What made them lose even more credibility was asking their customers, and possibly their family members/employees, to create temporary accounts here and contradict many of the previous reviews given here. This attempt was quite obvious, considering if you look back at most of the "positive" reviews, these members all signed up around the same time, and each only have one or two posts, calling us out.

If you ask me, they're being hypocrites by running to you and saying that we're the malicious ones, when they were the ones who intentionally tried to make us and our reviews look stupid and untrue.

+1. I went in there and experienced the service myself and I must say, I definitely was not satisfied. I would understand if I was buying a brand new car off the lot, and I was not able to test drive my exact model because they did not have it for something, but for Gods sake, it's a used car! I can't believe people would spend good amounts of money on cars that they cannot even sample first. Also, walking into their showroom, and seeing all of their beat up, scratched, rusty, mistreated 3's had to be THE BIGGEST turn off about this place. Would you buy a car that A - you cannot drive until you pay for it and B - has several noticeable markings over it that these people insist they will fix ONCE YOU HAVE SIGNED THE PAPERWORK.

Absolutely pathetic that a USED CAR dealership can sell Mazda3s without letting customers test drive them. Maybe if it was a Lambo or a Ferrari I might understand, but it's a MAZDA3.

Downsview = a joke

....

the other things were:

* multiple "customer" accounts from the same IP address as the "official" Downsview Rep
* a salesperson or dealer rep pawning themselves off as a customer that just bought a car

Calling front seat! :P

Anyway, I'm currently looking for a car, and for a car that you cannot test drive already loses points from me. If SimplyTire can guarantee that their car is performing well.....then let me know so I can visit!

I get it, and that makes sense. And Eron did mention that he asked his customers to join TM3 and voice their opinions if they were happy... but in the same token, they were worried that his competitiors were doing the same thing, but opposite.

I have nothing invested, I'm just stating that it doesnt make sense to me because I cannot see these things on my end.... everything I read here is so the opposite of what I see on a daily basis and from what I hear from their customers...

I admit I got my 06 M3 GS there last year:) Buying my first car ever, first time Canada (just got my G2 and wanted to hit the road ASAP), had really not much idea about buying cars and the reviews from here were not really favorable:)
But my goal was pretty much just to get something very cheap and practice before going for G. The purchase went fine, got all the paperwork (also showing that the car had an accident). I remember there were many cars on the lot with rusting marks or bad interior condition, etc. They fixed a few little paint chips and one chip on the windshield before the pick up. BUT as I was told at the body shop later, they gave me a wrong touch up paint color :x
The car itself wasn't in perfect condition, but for the money spent, I was happy, the important parts worked fine. A few months later, I stopped by at MoT and let them thoroughly check it up before winter. Ended up paying over $1000 for the work/repairs (including a broken engine mount, not sure when that happened).
Anyways, I'm satisfied with the results, will keep the car for now and I guess I was lucky afterall:)
I wouldn't go to Downsview again, for all the other reasons mentioned around here. But yeah, I'm glad I could get my M3 from there, when I was short on other options.

BTW first mod: changed license plate frame:chuckle

An interesting article (http://www.thestar.com/business/article/985998--cyber-libel-defamation-on-a-keyboard) in Toronto Star about internet defamation.

Not to defend Downsview or suggest that it would take action against defamation - just to point out risks, however remote they are, in griping on the net. I was under the impression, truth was a defense against slander but apparently not in this case.

went into this dealer last week. Not impressed at all! When we required assistance from the salesperson, he came out to the lot, but started smoking while interacting with us! He didn't even ask us if we minded that? How rude...no professionalism and the cars were in bad condition!!! Looked way too shady to buy...

I purchased my 05 Mazda a year ago...I also paid the $ 200 paint protection which covered painting/replacing any rust, chips, etc......When I picked up the car NOTHING was completed.....I talked to the manager and told him if it wasnt done, i wasnt taking the car home and he appologized and they ended up fixing all the scuffs etc.....well one winter has passed and the car is showing signs of rust along the windows...Other then that I love my car and have had no problems with it what so ever!

I did purchase the car because It was fully loaded, had about 5 other people with me to pick it out but when we got home I realized my fully loaded car had no AC....:( Who would have thought!

We got ours from there too. The experience was so-so. Upon vehicle inspection, I found damage on the front fender - which they fixed before delivery. However, that repair was not proper, was like a hand spray of paint that came off during car wash over next few months, had to get it redone properly at my cost. At pick up, the interior was very dirty, not cleaned up at all. Cleaned it up myself. I would rate the experience there below average based on my car shopping experience with 8 other dealers I bought cars from...

So some tips when shopping there or any other dealer: make sure to get everything done properly before delivery. Check the vehicle history including its original registration province/state. Ask for Carproof and Carfax. And lastly - have fun :)

I saw a couple cute girls driving a really nice CWP GT sedan. As I got closer I saw the Downsview plates, and of course I saw the rust in the wheel wells... and of course as I passed it I noticed no front plate bracket.

when i went to look b4 i bought mine (december 2011) they had a deal on that you either get new tires or indash GPS unit if not they take 450$ of the price and if you buy it "as is" they take another 450$ (900$ total + tax which isnt bad) off the price good thing i didnt buy from there cuz most of the cars when i went to look were in rough shape anything decent had a ton of KM...

I went by there once to look before i got mine. I suggest you do not purchase a car from there if anyone is looking. It is a chop shop. They will take parts from other mazdas and and put them on whatever fits. Definitely seems like some kind of scam that has gone un-noticed so far.

A buddy of mine at work bought his Mazda3 from them a couple of years ago. Since then, he has had the body rust out in many areas (badly), numerous mechanical issues and the car drives like a piece of crap! Rattles and creaks everywhere. It feels like it's falling apart! We know it's a Quebec car but we suspect it may have at one time been in a serious collision., which I don't think can be traced.

I'd suggest staying away from there at all costs.

LoL that's funny because everyone else reported including myself that they don't allow test drives until after you've bought the car for that exact reason...:chuckle

How did you get a test drive?

I was thinking of buying my car there when I drove passed it once, because of the plethora of cars. But a closer look at how aged and rusty they look I decided not to...

Actually, the only good cars they have are in the showroom. Those are the ones that worth to take a look at. But to the point that they don`t let you test drive. I would say no to the place. PS: Even I got my car from their, still a bad place to shop at regardless....
