Looking mainly to buy proper outfit (pants, goggles, jacket, gloves, etc.) - NOT looking for skis or snow boards yet.
What stores are good?
What brands are good?
Anything I need to watch out for?
Thinking of checking out SportingLife, MEC, & skiis & bikes.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

If you're looking for snowboarding stuff, check out a place called Sanction on west of Yonge on Steeles:

Or Hogstown just east of Spadina on King

Switch Skate and Snow!
There is one in Pickering and one in Ajax. The guy who owns it (Mike B) is a really great guy to deal with, and everyone who works there knows what they are talking about. I was in on the weekend and was shooting the stuff with the Atomic rep.... very down to earth shops. :)
