Hey,

My plastic covering for the bottom of the engine kind of broke. Well it did break, backing into my driveway over a mound of snow basically did it over. Whats this part technically called and should I get it repaired quick? Estimate?

Thanks

AFAIK you can not repair it ( unless you consider using duct tape a quick repair). You have replace the whole thing.

If I recall its like $100-$150 from various posts around the forum. I'll see if I can find one..

If it's this, http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=306867&postcount=18
it's the splash shield/guard.

and should I get it repaired quick?
It's probably better if you do.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Hmm, just thiking about it I remember fixing it myself a couple of times with the strong 'plastic ties'. It kept breaking off for some reason and I replaced it twice until finally the actual cover started to crack. i wonder if the dealership is to blame, maybe they didn't fasten it back on properly?

A lot of people have had issues with their splash shield and in some cases the dealerships have been the ones responsible for the damage.

Check out MGM's links in her post or do some searching on here, there are a ton of threads about this where people have had similar problems...

Good luck!

My plastic shield is broken, I had a buddy that worked as a technician at the dealership. He fixed it for me by putting some extra screws in to hold it.

I remember to replace costs around $105.
