Is there anyone on the forum that works for Rogers Wireless, I'm having an issue with a new phone I had purchase from an auction. Its BNIB & the sim card fails so it wont allow me to use the phone. I just want to have it fixed or replaced.

the sim card was probably activated on someone else's account. that account might be dead, frozen, or in use so that sim card won't work.

if you have your previous sim card (assuming you are replacing an old phone) you can swap it in. Otherwise, you will have to get an unactivated sim from classifieds like HoFo or craigslist for about 10-15 bucks. If you order one from rogers i think it's closer to 40.

I work for Rogers, but not amazing with the tech support aspect of things.

If you find that it is the sim card through, give me a shout and I'll set you up with one. I've got a few around the house.

have you tried putting in another Rogers sim card in the phone and check if it works? just so you can be sure which one is defective. I ordered an iPhone for one of our employees in our company, it was also BNIB, but fails to read any sim card you put in there. Ended up with Rogers replacing the phone.

ask your friends to swap it out sim to see if it works.

what gary you need a third phone :P :P. what you would probably do is either get a new sim card for the phone because as they said it may be locked or frozen. depending on who used to own it before you did.

Thanks everyone. I have tried my sim card, a friends & a brand new one from Rogers they have all failed. Without a receipt Rogers is not willing to exchange the phone for a new one. This is why I’m looking for someone that works for Rogers to help me get around this.

what type of phone is it that you bought?

Go to a Rogers location and ask the to send it to repair. They'll provide you with a loaner in the meantime. As long as the phone has no physical/water damage you should be good to go even without a receipt (not needed to in-warranty repairs).

What area are you in? I have ten locations in the GTA and if you decide to send it out, we can do it for you.

Any logos on the phone? Is it in fact a Rogers Phone? If not, the BB needs to be unlocked in order for it to work with another carrier.

Go straight to the source and contact the person you've bought it from. What's the point of trying to get it fixed. Seller sold you garbage...REFUND!

Looks like Rogers is going to exchange it for a new one. Thanks to all for the help.
