I was searching around on the net the other day and run across some videos of guys with their 80's Dodge Omni GLH's. Back in the day they were more or less the Mazdaspeed 3. (except for the fact they were Dodge...) I had o regular Omni as one of my first cars and tried hard to get hold of one for so long.

The GLH stood for Goes Like Hell, and there was a GLH-S (Goes Like Hell, Some-more). They were done by Carroll Shelby. I think the GLH-S put out 175 HP. That was a pretty big deal for such a small car back then.
Anyways, just a trip down memory lane for me. When all my friends and I could seem to afford were an Omni, Pony or Chevette.

When I was in College in Windsor, a guy I worked with at CT in the parts department was building one up... he was a omni freak! Had the 2.2 Turbo tuned up to the tune of close to 300HP... car still looked like crap though! lol Needed a nice paint job! They were a fast little lunch box on wheels though!

I don't remember this car per say (age), but I know about it. I know about too many random ass cars.
Shogun anyone?

Wasn't that the SHO engine dropped into the back of a Festiva?

lol Thanks... I think!
Through the late 80's and the 90's I was a car-o-holic... I knew everything that was happening, and what was cool and not... Kinda lost that interest, just keep up on what I own and want to own (thats attainable!)
I wish I could find my pic of my Tercel, had cragars on that baby! Yep, 4 spoke Cragers!! lol

The link works for me, but thanks for posting a pic. I can't do that from work.
That Shogun was awesome! Even the Taurus SHO was quick with that Yamaha engine. I was an extreme car nut back then, still am.
There was a guy around Trenton back then with an 80's Chevette. He had it painted black with yellow SS stipes and had a sprayed 350 under the hood. It was fantastic.
I would own a Chevette as a daily beater anyday. They were unstoppable and rear drive. Then I just need my mullet back....lol :bana

Smokey and the Bandit style!! Sweet! I always wanted one of those, even though I'm a stang man at heart!
Need to win that multi-million lottery, then I have the barn full of cars:
70's T/A
68 Shelby
Porsche 911
Pinto
Gremlin
Chevette
Omni GLH
80 Tercel
72 Civic
Isetta
Gotta have variety! :bana

I can't beleive you mentioned the early Civic! I love these.
There was a guy at one of the last show and shines here in Belleville last year with one. It was mint, 2 door, orange. I spent more time looking at it than most of the muscle cars...lol.

My friends and I used to all drive Omni's back in the day! We used to play bumper tag on the roads of Brampton with them! Actually a fun little car back in the 80s!

I got my Omni stuck in a ditch one time. My uncle hooks up to the rear bumper with his truck and procedes to pull my bumper off. I was shattered! I had just painted the car and was finally getting somewhere with it. Instead of putting another one on I filled the holes where it attached to the body. Taped off the section below the rear tail lights and painted it black. It came out pretty good and I really liked the look.
No rear bumper FTW! Those were the days.
