Went to Ontario Car Store (ontariocarstore dot com) to see an M3 listed on trader.ca for $16k. I ask the guy how much is it to take off the lot, he says it's $19k... Excuse me, how does $16k w. tax comes up to $19k? He tells me there are administration and other fees. What a joker!
I thanked him, turned around and left. Hate places like this... He didn't seem like he had any desire to sell it at all.
False advertising is enough in my book to stay away from any place. Avoid!
cheers,
~~ alex

Advertised for $16k, the guy said it would be $19k to take home (so with tax). $16k + tax is only $18k, he wanted almost a full grand extra in fees. What a waste of time...

I'm paying cash... there's nothing for him to process.
There's no way i'm pay a grand in fees. Taxes are taxes, and I have no problem with it, but $1k for him to do his job on top of what he already makes? Lease buyout goes for under $13k on leasebusters.com . Even at $16k he already makes a healthy margin, so trying to process me for an extra grand is just in poor taste to say the least.

New and Used car dealers are not allowed to advertise like that anymore, OMVIC as of January 2010 introduced new laws for Ontario that any advertised price must contain all fees and if the ad does not state taxes are extra than that price includes taxes. They also must put in there ads the stock number of the vehicle being advertised and whether it was a former rental car or taxi or police car. If these conditions are not met and a consumer complains to OMVIC than the dealer can be fined.
If a dealer needs to do false advertising to get you in the door than I would recommend avoiding them all together, they start off the relationship under false pretences what will you get after you get your car from a place like that.
