Hey everyone,

I was just curious what cleaner you use for your upholstery., My seats are carpet and in terrible shape with salt and what not. Right now I use the turtle wax foam carpet cleaner but it seems to leave a ring on my chair after it dries. Any other suggestions? My interior is beige and looks like crap right now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Go get some FOLEX at home depot (in the carpet section..its a carpet cleaner..it works real good trust me) spray some on the salt spots and let it soak for 10 to 15 mins and then scrub it clean...trust me this stuff works awsome.

After you clean it you should look into getting the weathertech floor liners...you will not get any more salt stains on your carpet!

ima try Folex soon, and get the weathertech floor liners on next GB if ever.

thanks aristeidis! :bana

hate those salt stains inside the car :complain

I have the weathertech floorliners. But the driver's side doesn't fit as properly as I had hoped. As I mentioned in another thread. The rear of the front driver's side does not sit flush to the carpet, there is a small gap. I noticed a lot of water (melted snow) went in between the liner and the carpet and it's soaked pretty bad. The next spot is the front left of the liner, it's not as long as I had expected and I have a huge salt stain there. I'll try that folex from home depot in the spring and see if that helps. Does it work on seats too?

Yes FOLEX works on your seats and even head liner.

With my weather tech floor liners i never hooked it on the drivers side cause it doesn't sit right....if you don't hook it it will sit eactly with the floor and then you shouldn't get any salt spots or snow melting and going on your carpet!

Had a stain on my seat which was caused by a combination of Sprite and dye from jeans. It sat for a while and then I used ProSolve, a carpet cleaner. Spray it on, rub it in, let it sit, and wipe it out with a clean cloth. The stain is completely gone (tan interior, nowhere to hid a stain lol).

The cleaner even works on the seats? Even with the seat warmer?

should one have to worry about the seat warmer when cleaning the seats?

As long as you're not soaking the seats with water it shouldn't be a problem. The elements can take being a bit wet, esp. if you make sure they're dry before turning them on.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm FOLEX... I'll have to give a try.

Sounds promising.
I've always steam cleaned plus Oxy Clean salt stains out of my car. Worked pretty well too. I also use that foamy stuff with the brush on the cap. I forgot the brand but its at Wal Mart & CDN Tire. That stuff works great too

Oh wikkid you're right its Turtle Wax never knew that LOL
The brush cap is shit so use another brush you can buy them at the dollar store or whatever.
I totally soak the carpet and mat with the foam and let it sink for about 15 mins. I take a rag and rub it hard and tons and TONS of dirt comes out. Lather, rinse and repeat :)

Warm water and vinegar removes salt stains well.... it just smells for a bit.
