View Full Version : Polyurethane rear motor mount? which one?

I’m looking for opinions from others on the rear polyurethane motor mounts? Wondering which one/setup is the best to have for a mildly modded daily driver (not using it for racing or autoX).
I am thinking of getting one, but I was wondering how much the vibrations are actually increased? On my old car (Grand Prix GTP) I was running polyurethane motor mounts and it would vibrate more than I liked (when I was on the gas it wasn’t that bad, more when just sitting there that annoyed me), again all my motor mounts were poly so it was of course a lot stiffer than only having 1 mount, but again if in the mazda3 the 1 mount causes too much vibration I would rather not get one. I just don’t want to spend the money on one unless I will use it (want to get away from buying parts that I never use, done that way too much).

I would recommend you getting a rear mount, if you don't want to have all 3 of the mount urethane. The OEM rear mount tends to fail immaturely on the Mazda 3.
We carry the best mount rear mount on the market right now, that cause the less vibrations.

what are the advantages of having motor mount, compared to stock one?
And what are the vibrations you talking about?

I have the corksport inserts. Advantages are smoother shifts and power delivery is immediate. The vibrations are a result of the motor being more securely mounted to the chassis. Since the movement of the engine is reduced, vibrations are directly transmitted into the chassis. Hence increased NVA. Search 'motor mount and vibration' and I bet a lot of threads will come back.

How are the inserts compared to the aftermarket mounts?

How are the inserts compared to the aftermarket mounts?
I can't say because I've never installed a full rear mm on my car. I sold my AWR instead of using it. I bought my CS when the dollar was at par, so for about $55 CDN I had it shipped to my house (and installation was $25); so from a cost perspective, you can't beat the CS. I noticed significant change in the performance of my car; from shifts to acceleration the 'feel' was much improved.
Also, I think most rear mm will visually draw attention; the CS is hardly noticeable.

A lot more addtional vibrations!!!
a lot of Mazda 3 owners sell thier insert and purchase a new aftermarket motor mount.
I can do a GB for our new rear mount for you guys!!!It'll be like 75-65 USD shipped.

noticed the vibration in my clutch pedal today...annoying as HELL:flaming, and i've decided on purchasing a rear motor mount...this will remove vibrations from my clutch pedal, right? as well as minimize engine movement in the engine compartment? will installing an a/m motor mount void my warranty? and how does the darkstar rear motor mount stack up to the streetunit one?

Yes, with the CS vibes increase but after break in you hardly notice them. I launch at less than 1000 rpm, which is the same as prior to installing the inserts.

Those are different vibrations you are feeling in the clutch pedal; I'm not sure that mm will fix that. Yes, mm will void your warranty if your dealer is a d!ck. Search for rear motor mount using the forum search engine and a lot of threads will come up; also search for clutch pedal vibration (I recall seeing a couple of threads on this topic).
