i don't like that car lol..they added more power to it so it could compete with the porsches and corvettes..but its not really a competition for those cars as they have been around since burger king was a prince

I spotted one hidden behind a Hyundai dealership in the GTA.
I think it's gorgeous. I hope it works out well for Hyundai.

I like the looks of the car. Congratulations to Hyundai.
Hyundai's path is similar to Toyota and Honda's path. 30 years ago people laughed at Japanese cars (Toyota's and Honda's). Then they slowly started improving their build quality and design and they took over the North American (and world) market and set the standard for quality, performance and design. They started creating luxury divisions (Acura and Lexus) and rivaled the great European luxury makers.
Hyundai is following a similar path. People laughed at their cars in the 80's. Hyundai Pony or Excel anyone? But they slowly and surely improved quality and design and now they are moving into the more profitable luxury vehicle department.
In my humble opinion, 10 years from now Hyundai will be considered in the same breath as Toyota and Honda are today. They may have even surpassed them by then. No one stays at the top forever!

I completely agree. I've been gaining respect for Hyundai over the years.
My dad had a Hyundai Stellar in the 90's. It was the biggest POS ever.

3 generations of Hyundai owners in my family. My grandparents had a Sonata for about 13 years and it was good to them, my father had a 2000 Tiburon and now drives a Sonata, and I've owned 2 Tibs ('99 and my father's '00, which my wife now drives). We've all been very happy with the cars and the service we've received. I hope they continue to progress along the trends they've been setting.

Hyundai = how many years in racing?
Good looking car but I am not gonna trust that car. For 50k there's better out there. ...nevermind the base models

Well.. if you're referring to the highest model of Genesis sedan being (under) $50k, yeah.. but it did win a few awards:
2009 Genesis – 2009 North American Car of the Year – North American Car of the Year (NACOTY)
2009 Genesis – 2009 Best New Luxury Car under $50,000 – Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC)
As for racing they did compete in the SCCA ProRally championships for 8 years and did really well there.
But no matter.. as long as people continue to look down on the brand, their cars will remain an excellent value for the price. :)

I'm never one to just dump cold water on enthusiasm, but come on, where's the INNOVATION here that Toyota and Honda (and all other successful car companies) are famous for?
Hyundai's INNOVATION is their knack to take what's good from more luxurious brands and repackage them into something more affordable...other than that, I don't remember Hyundai ever being first to introduce any form of automotive technology in recent memory (DSG, electro-magnetic shock absorbers, hybrids, etc.)
One nice car may cause a stir...but a famous marque requires a lot more to be truly respectable besides how well they can make Franken-cars out of other ppl's designs...
And yeah...when was the last time Hyundai won any major race SERIES?! Not a support class of a secondary series...I'm talking about LeMans (which Mazda won outright in 1988), F1, Champ/IRL, even NASCAR? Also...the Japanese have a myriad of national racing series that are highly competitive and technical...I have never seen anything about Koreans going fast on their home turf with their own cars...
I will not look down on Hyundai, but Honda and Toyota, they're not...
EDIT: Also...if your investment advisor is telling you how great the Genesis is and how he's trading his BMW/Mercedes/Cadillac/Porsche for one, then I think you should find another investment advisor...lol...

I see nothing new in that article. It's all been said before. What we need to hear now is pricing, and a full trim level breakdown....

i went and test drove a 3.8 yesterday. didn't really like the interior, they made the window controllers so awkward to operate. the clutch peddle was too heavy for my taste (i thought my MS3's clutch was heavy, i was wrong, lol). i did like the shifters though, very smooth. Hyundai tried to make this car so much like the G35, the exhaust note sound just like the G35 (for the 3.8 V6 anyways, i did not test drive the 2.0T).
