My brake lights stopped responding apparently and the bulbs are fine since I tried the hazard lights and such, is there loose wiring? cause the 3rd brake light still works fine from what I saw.

Umm I think that you may just need some bulbs. If the running lights are working but NOT the brake lights, then it is most likely the bulbs. Even more evidence of that is that the thrid brake light is working. Since these three bulbs work on the same circuit. It is safe to say that the (dual Filiment) bulbs are burnt out. The turn/hazard bulbs are seperate bulbs.

yikes...

And please get it looked out as soon as possible, it could cause you a huge accident.

Cosmo thanks for the reply, so the running lights your referring to are the lights when I turn on the night lights? cause when you brake they are supposed to light up brighter according to the 3rd brake light also?

Yes the tail lights (running lights) and the brake lights are the same bulb (on most models, some have LED's). The bulbs don;t cost much (maybe $3/piece and thats being high) and having them replaced will not cost you much more than .3 hr for both at most shops. Its also not to hard for the DIY, but make sure you get the correct bulb with TWO filliments in them.

I was reading this thread on mazda3forums.com http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=37827.0

and the correct bulb would be Tail light: 7443 ?

and one more thing im not sure about the filliments your speaking of, care to explain? Thanks and sorry for the hassle.

Yah that sounds right (back in the day they used to be 1157 bulbs). By dual filliment I mean that the bulb has TWO filliments inside the bulb...one is the tailight side of the bulb and the other side lights up (in conjunction with the first) make it brighter when the brakes are applied.

Thanks again cosmo I will give this a try and btw any places you recommend locally I should get these bulbs at? like the biz said its a pretty dangerous situation and I don't wanna end up buying these online and waiting. Thanks

Online for bulbs? Are you kidding? Any shop could have them replaced in 20 mins. I am sure Canadian Tire/Walmart or even sometimes Esso has these bulbs.

They are not rare...I amsure if you stopped at a dealer without even an apponitment and got a "worried" look on your face, they would probably "squeeze" you in right away.

Good thing you got it fixed. You don't want to be pulled over by cops and giving you a ticket for this (highly unlikely but possible).
