I have just returned from Orangeville Mazda and wanted to share my experience. I was searching auto trader, looking for a used Mazda. There were about three used Mazada's listed under the Orangeville Mazda banner, all gently used cars (demo's), with less than 10,000 km on them. I went to the Orangeville Mazada site to look at what they had to offer, and by browsing their "Preowned" section, I found about five that fit my budget and criteria (low km, automatic, air, good price, etc.). They even had descriptions that include the word "demo" or "virtually new", etc.
So, I called and spoke with the sales guy, and we emailed back and forth a few times. He said that he had lots of inventory and that I should come up and look.
So, I made the big trek up there today (1 hour), and it was a very confusing experience. First of all, the sales guy was super aggressive and hostile. I brought my friend with me and we were both taken aback by how surly he was. I thought we were on a candid camera program, that's how bad it was. So I asked him about the used cars that we had talked about, and all of a sudden he didn't know what I was talking about. He said that they list new cars as "used" on Auto Trader as that is the only way that they can get the cars listed, that Auto Trader doesn't allow them to list new cars. When I asked him why the cars were listed as "pre-owned" on Mazda of Orangeville's site as well, he said because that their site was actually just the back end of Auto Trader. So, he didn't actually have any 2008 or 2009 used cars -- they just list them that way so that people come in to the dealership and then they try to sell them a new car. Bear in mind that I have a whole email exchange with us chatting about the various demo cars that are available. It was a really disappointing and confusing experience, and the guy was honestly really nasty. We left, quite upset, feeling extremely negative toward Mazda of Orangeville, and quite frankly, fairly lukewarm about Mazda. What kind of business practices are these, and why would he treat a customer (who was ready to buy a car today) like such a moron?
