Okay, living in Wpg. has its downsides...like 6months of snow. Anyway, over the last 2 months, I think I'm hearing pinging from my engine, but only when the engine is cold. It sounds like two coins tapping together, but only taps about 2-3 times. This happens when laying on the throttle, or jabbing the throttle, or even between shifts when the engine and clutch engage. It goes away when the engine is completely warm, and only happens when the ambient temp is -15 or colder. I don't think I heard it until January, and it was plenty cold in Dec. Dealership has contacted Mazda and they have no answers. Dealership also agrees its probably pre-detonation. I'm using premium and have changed gas stations a few times. Anyone else out there that is driving their speed 3 in cold weather. (between the crunching suspension and the pinging I'm not very happy in the winter)
