They explained that phone signal trasmits over a phone tower, but what if you call the phone on the opposite side from pocorn and do it with the other pone.

Dead tired from another 15 hour shift, but IIRC, microwaves operate around 2.4GHz while mobile phone radios operate on 850/900/1800/1900MHz. That, coupled with the HUGE difference of wattage behind the two technologies = yotr theory, your head goes boom.
