That is a good trade for the Sens ... They need a starting G for next year and Leclaire can be that guy. Vermette will be missed in the faceoff circle and the PK but they will OK without him.

Gerver is in the last year of his contract. Leclaire won't be back until late in the year, as he is recovering from an injury.

Next year will be Leclaire with Elliot backing him up. This year is not a problem... it is done.

They need to part with Neal if they can get something good in return. He is a good character guy but not at $2MM/yr (or whatever he will want next year).

Yeah, Toskala is out for surgery on his groin and hip so Gerber will be the replacement for the rest of the season.

Aah I always assumed Toskala was going to have his surgery at the end of the season guess not.

Gerber becomes an UFA July 1st, so he's basically a rental player to give Toskala the time he needs to have surgery and then recover.

Not a bad move. And it gives Gerber a chance to redeem himself and find another team.

They acquired him until he becomes an unrestricted free agent in july or whatever. They will have to pay the rest of his salary for the last part of the season though. The Leafs are $9 million under the cap for this year so they won't be losing that much.

Nothing that I have heard. I'm sure it will depend on where they end up. I have a feeling it will be around a 2nd-4th round pick. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

This was a minor league deal. Kolzig and Heward are done for the season and the Leafs are simply doing a favour for the Lightning by taking the cap hit..

I think they did ok, but not great that's for sure. Kaberle probably would have went if his hand wasn't busted. Also no one was really looking to spend what he would have been going for.

Young blood, instead of old veterans who can't take us anywhere. With Burke in now you will see a lot happen over the summer and we will make the playoffs...eventually. :bana2

I don't think so. Kolzig was a salary dump by Tampa (he was on Tampa not Washington). Leafs basically told Tampa, "hey, you want us to take Kolzig off your books, you give us a 4th rounder for taking him."

Kolzig's going to be a FA after this season, as will Gerber.

Leafs should have Toskala and Pogge next season.

Pogge I don't think will turn into very much. He hasn't looked to be as promising as when he played for Canada. Hopefully I am wrong but things aren't looking that great with him. Oh well.

I think Pogge needs more NHL starts to get experience. He has a little taste, but he needs more games.

But then again..he's not that great in the AHL either..we'll see what happens I guess..
