I was thinking of removing the stock shifter weight to see what kind of difference this makes in shift feel. I have read some people really like the feeling without the weight.

I have the TWM STS with bushings but still feel there is room for improvement.

Can someone please help me locate it? I guess it's just 2X10mm bolts to remove, I just have no idea where to look for it.

If anyone happens to have a picture that shows it that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

it's under your airbox...or if you have a SRI, you'll see it move under it. Have someone play "speed racer" inside your car shifting and shine a light on your air box...you'll see it move...

let us know your findings...

Thanks Fobio, I'll take a look for it when I do my next oil change in about 2 weeks.

I removed mine months ago....dont have my SS in yet, as you know....but I really like the feel of no shifter weight.
I have read that people have had good success with the Cobb replacement, but so far I am happy without. And as you will see it is easy to remove and replace if desired.

Hope these help....as can be seen it is the obvious spot where there are bolts missing. As well...you may need to move the shifter to get the best possible location for removal...I think I put it in 5th to allow for my hands to have better access.....As always let me know if you need a hand

BTW...pictures were taken quickly for response....SO no one is allowed to comment on the state of my engines cleanliness. Normally it is very clean, along with the rest of the car...but 6 week old baby is taking up a good portion of the TLC normally given to the car.....LOL

Thanks Brian for taking time to get pictures. If I feel energetic I may even give it a go tonight or tomorrow. It looks simple enough.

We have to get together soon for "mod" day after you gather the essentials for your boost gauge. Warm weather FTW!

Thanks again guys.

BTW...notice no comment was made on the cleanliness of your engine bay either..............ooops.

Pulled the weight off last night. That thing was ginormous! Not sure if I really like it or not yet though.

It does feel noticeably lighter, but maybe too light, almost like a toy. My tranny has always sucked going into 2nd when it's not warmed up (crunches). Which is now exaggerated even more.

I'll give it a week or two.

1/2-stock is what I think the Cobb one is...since you have it off, maybe you can just saw it in half or trim around it to take 1/2 off and try that instead.

Well I put the stock weight back on and funny enough I think I like the feel better this way.

Maybe something half way would work but I don't want to cut my weight up or spend money on a Cobb incase I don't like it either.

I think I may just leave well enough alone.
