Hey All,

By any chance does anybody here work for an insurance company that could possibly give me a good (read TM3) rate for my car and house insurance?? Also, can you tell me who you work for?? Thanks in advance.

Maybe we can all get an insurance group buy going.. as in a massive multi-car discount.. :chuckle

I don't think working for an insurance company lets someone get people deals. It's not like working at McDonalds.

Rates are all strictly based on guidelines they set.

yeah, that thought did cross my mind but I figure I might as well ask anyways.. I thought maybe there was some sort of friends/family discount.. nothing big but maybe like 2-3%..

I forgot to write that I'm asking because I'm currently looking for somebody other than State Farm because my rate seems to be pretty high and it turns out that they can't lower it any more.. I'm only driving on the weekends and I'm sure I pay more than most of you (will be $188/month once I move).. I can't justify that for a car that doesn't see much action..

so, I'm currently calling around but I don't have that much time during the day to call all the insurance companies so I figure might as create a thread for this..

I work for an insurance company but we only do commercial/industrial property so I can't help...

I can tell you this though, auto insurance rates have been dropping the past few years because of a softening market and intense competition. That is changing as insurance companies have reported small profits or in some cases, losses for 2008. I wouldn't be surprised to see a surge of slightly higher rates at renewal, even for those that haven't had any accidents.

Thanks for the link, I just found a quote that's $250 lower than what I have now and I thought that was already low.
