View Full Version : How did I lose on my post count?

I had a thread locked by the mods yesterday, many of you may have participated in the sillyness.

However, I noticed that my post count has dropped substantially.

Does everyone in the thread lose those posts as well?

Not sure why it was frowned upon.

They called it postwhoring, I called it a fun way to break our boredom.

I am dissappointed in the action that was taken against me, however I do understand they don't want people screwing around to gain levels. What are the levels for anyways?

Why can't we all be on the same level and just have the mods above us?
Doesn't make sense for an informational site like this to categorize the users by how many posts they put up. And then when you start something fun, they put a stop to it.

Could they not have left the thread just made the post count invalid for messages in that thread like we do for Fridays?

So I guess this site is strictly for info and not for fun.

Could someone please let me know what was so bad about it? if you didn't like what was going on, you didn't have to participate.

Signed:

A disappointed Krakor. :werd

I never meant to post whore, I was just having some fun.

Too bad they couldn't just lock the counts. A lot of us were having fun.

There is only so much post whoring you can do before it gets annoying

As one of the participants in that thread I have to reflect back and think it did go astray farther than what was intended. Was it post whoring? Yes it was. The thread asked a silly question and we all went off on tangents. While it offered a diversion for those that participated in it, it was meaningless.

We try to allow a certain amount of latitude in the lounge and be more strict elsewhere. You have to understand that we could have these types of threads all over the board if not monitored. All in the name of having fun. The board would then loose it's function as a place of information for Mazda3/Mazdaspeed 3 enthusiasts and become a social discussion board. The focus here is on our community of cars. If we have fun in the process then so be it. But you have to be realistic about what you can get away with while having fun.

Posting back to back non-stop is post whoring. You may have not wanted to do it to get your post count up but the fact of the matter is your post count and everyone else's post count went up. Seriously, though you shouldn't take it so seriously and shouldn't let it bother you to the extent that you post two additional threads questioning the decision taken.

It started out as fun and we all got carried away. Let's accept our roles in it and move on.

Question is already answered in this thread, no need to turn it into another post whoring thread.

We have a great mod team, you can always PM them a question if you're wondering something about your account/posts etc.

Thanks Fang.

I do respect everything you have said in the message above.
I also have to agree with the fact that it went astray.

I am not really upset, afterall it is just cyber space, I was disappointed the thread got shut down because, whether you posted or not, it was like a car wreck - you just couldn't look away!

No worries and no hard feelings.

I understand the boundaries and reasons for this board and I will respect them and adhere to them from now on.

Thanks to everyone who participated and to all the mods that were nice enough to explain the decision to kill my... I mean... put a stop to my nonsense (and others).

However, a post count boost would be nice.

I've learned my lesson.

Oh and I will keep the asshat in my signature as my penance.

meh..

You got off lightly. The admin of this site is making me clean the mod's lounge for a month for my part in this.
