:/ have you read your owner's manual... this information is more than likely in the manual.

Just checked and there is not 'temp' guage..

It will however light up a warning light if it gets too hot.

no kidding huh!

wow that's an interesting decision to not put the temperature gauge on the dash!!!!!

I refer to my temperature gauge in the winter a lot, I only turn on the heat/fan when I see the temperature gauge move up at least 50% of the way towards the normal operating temp.

Kinda sucks that you can't refer to that info any longer on the 2010's...

Some new cars don't have them. (Nissan Versa for example) What they have is COLD engine temperature sign (blue snowflake or blue thermomiter). Just to indicate that it's not warm to rev engine high. When engine is warmed up, it just dissapears. If it over heats then you see a some kind of a red indicator.

All the models with auto climate control do not kick in until the car warms up enough anyhow.

That's interesting. Seems like it would be hard to diagnose things like faulty thermostats and what not.

Not at all. You just plug the computer and it tells you the current temp.

What manufactures doing is that, they make cars harder to diagnose for avarage Joe.

That sucks. This is just another reason why I hate auto climate... I miss my '05 :rant

...not.
K thanks jeff.

I dont think that would be anything to worry about. Chances are if you have a problem as to your car overheating that the computor will shut the car down. It would be hard to get used to not having a temp gauge!

Fill that sucker up with a gauge pod!!! lol

That's silly. To be honest, most temp gauges mean nothing these days. They just say cold, warm or hot none of them display the actual temp.

I think that most drivers are so accustomed to the engine temp gauge and use it the most during winter to figure out when their engine is warm enough to drive it on the highway or when to turn on heat.

Interesting to learn that some new cars don't have engine temp gauage now.

I frequently leave work right after starting my car and am on the highway within 5-10 mins of starting. The gauge quickly moves to 50% even after just doing 80-90 for a few seconds. Is this bad for the car?

I always thought this was bad, since your engine is having to work harder because the oil is more viscous at cold temps. So when you drive at 80-90 for a few seconds you are warming up the oil, but also putting strain on your engine.

I am not actually sure what effect this has on the engine or if it is harmful. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can chime in...

talk about going back 50 or so years, some cars at that time also used the blue light red light, I know I own one such vehicle..I have added a temp gauge, the gauges in our car that does have a gauge is just an extension of the idiot light, notice it doesn't go up or down when it settles in at the middle, sit in traffic for an hour not moving in hot weather and it won't move, mine doesn't unless their is a problem like low fluid etc..
