Muffler question

Hi Yall

I bought a used 04 GT, and was backing up with my windows open for the first time - winter was cold.
Anyway, I found the muffler to have a growl to it - louder than any other stock muffler I have had.

I was just wondering if anyone else found the mazda3 gt to have a slightly louder muffler----- Im not complaining , I kind of like the sound.....:)

Mines is quiet. Maybe you have a hole somewhere around the muffler.

What are you comparing? A stock 2.3L exhaust to what?

I can say that comparing my stock 2.3L to my last car (2.0L protege 5), it is noticably louder. If you're comparing your exhaust sound from the beginning of winter to today, then the others are right; you might have a hole somewhere.

Well the stock exhaust does have a pretty audible tone. If you can come out to the dealership or a meet so we can listen.

It is mostly herd went reversing or in neutral with the windows down......... Kind of like a "burble"

I have driven cars with holes in the exhaust- and cars with aftermarket mufflers.

This is a similar noise to an aftermarket muffler---- but the noise is not noticeable when driving ?

Not complaining , I actually like it - just wondering if other drivers have noticed it........
Give it a try , lower your windows and reverse ---- or try revving it in neutral.
