Yesterday I was driving back home from London, I go to Western by the way.
I'm in the fast lane on the 401 doing about 125 going with the flow of the traffic in that lane. I pass exit 232 which is like a pit stop for trucks etc, I see a OPP pull out.
So I slow down and move out of the fast lane, at marker 230 he pulls me over. Tells me I was tracked by OPP aircraft going 130km/h
I'm planning to fight this, this is my 2nd ticket. My first was 4 years ago going 15 over so I just paid that one.
I need some advice, should I fight it myself or find someone? If I were to find someone does anyone know of any good ones that are reasonably priced.
Thanks,
Thrizzl3

so the fast lane is moving at ~120km/h..they give you a ticket for 130km/h thats 30km/h over the limit which includes a fine and points deduction..i'd hire someone as the loss of points can cause your insurance rate to rise significantly

Plead not guilty and go to court! When you get there look for the cop to see if he is there, if he is there go talk to the crown and ask them to lower the fine and points. If he isn't there, plead not guilty and it will be thrown out do to lack of evidence!

Take it to court but you gotta go to the local court house. Plead not guilty and if you can negotiate, ask for a lesser speed value.
I've used X-coppers before but it was for a much worse charge (wreakless driving, long story) but they are expensive to hire. I believe it was around $500.

Take it straight to court. Both officers have to be present in order for them to have a case against you; the officer who issued the ticket, and the officer who timed/clocked you.
How was the weather that day? Was it cloudy, raining, etc?
I was reading an article in Car & Driver from a while back, and they did a story with the Ohio state patrol. If the ceiling visibility was at a certain height or whatnot, they could not fly.
Anyhow, long story short, fight it, and make sure both officers are present.
This goes for any case when you are "tagged" by an officer other than the one issuing the ticket.
Good luck.

I had a ticket for 80 in a 50 , Went to court and the cop showed up. I had points and a 265 dollar fine. Basically the lady who spoke to me said, Ok lets reduce this to 65 in a 50 and you pay $45.. which came up to $60.. I was happy because no points and reduced.. I didn't even have to make an excuse. Just fight it. I fight all tickets , so worth it in the end.

I don't know what area it patrols, I assume it patrols a large section. I just remember it's stop 232, prob not the one you're thinking since thats only about 45km out of London.

no it wont help you, basically no one cares in court.. You speak to some lady before the judge shows up, asks you what you want to do.. if you dont agree with the lady then you can pleade guilty with an explanation

EXPENSIVE? I got cought racing once. 140 in a 60 zone. (3 am, in industrial zone, 3 lane road both ways, not a soul around) I had to hire a LAWER, not an X-COPPER (they are not lawers , they just paralegals).
It did cost me 2000 $. I got 15 over, nad 60 $ charge.:bana However it took us 1.5 years to do.

Well that was your own fault for doing 140 in a 60 zone :bang (Guessing the racing law did not pass yet)
But 2,000 to fight that off is a whole lot better then losing your car for a 1week plus up too $10,000 in fines or more

You are correct, it is cheaper in a long run. And then don't forget the insurance, it would double.
And yes, the law didn't pass at that time, otherwise I would be royaly screwed, :whoa

I totally recommend hiring a paralegal like X-Copper or whatever. Yeah it will be pricey (to fight my careless driving charge was $500 for their services) but in the long run you save so much more!
Being a 22 year old G2 Driver with the Careless charge I was about to pay $945 A MONTH!!!! for insurance.
I got knocked down to a "Failure to merge into the left lane to avoid a collision"- 2 demerit points and $115 fine (careless is 6 points and $325)
Really hope you make the right decision! It will help you immensely in the long run!
