I explained in another section how Bay Mazda has decided to use conventional oil instead of semi syn.. Without changing their prices or informing their customers. My question is since that was what was used and what is based on for the amount of km for a oil change aren't they messing with that and wear on the vehicle.

From what I know on this subject (not a lot) I heard word had come down from corporate do initiate the change to conventional oil. I presume they have done their research on this as they need to protect their warranty.

8000km's is not an obsurd amount of km's between oil changes anymore. Even conventional oils have come a long, long way providing increased wear protection, cleaning and mileage.

I agree maybe they should reflect this change in their their pricing. and it seems underhanded, even sneaky.

Is there any confirmation from other dealers about this changed?

Just called the dealer and told me that whatever Mazda send them a bulk of oil they just use it and never says it is conventional or semi syntetic...

Isn't it bad for the motor to switch from a semi synthetic BACK to a conventional?
I know going away from a conventional is ok, but back to I would tend to think would be harder on the motors seals, etc.
