Hi guys,
I have a 2009 Mazda3 GT that I bought last October. I went for my first service last week at MoT (thanks Vincent!) and I saw that I have 9 mm left on each brake pad. My car has 6000 km. I would like to know how thick in mm are new brake pads and if this wear is normal.
Thanks in advance!

That seems absurdly low for your mileage. I just put on my summer tires and took a look at mine. I have waaay more then 9mm and I'm at 62,000km.

Ya okay, no idea what I was thinking. I'm sure the OP is fine.

I wouldn't worry too much, these cars seem to have good brakes that last along time!

The only way I could come up with would be to ask the dealer, or PM one of the MODs who work at a dealership b/c they might know

Generally brand new brake pads are anywhere from 10-12mm thick depending on the manufacturer. I've done my fair share of brake jobs on many different types of cars and i'd say 9mm is pretty low for a car with 6000km.
But you have to keep in mind your driving style will also affect how quickly your brake pads will wear. Making it pretty difficult to prove there is a defect in the braking system.

I'm pretty sure brand new brakes have 9mm.

Just a quick note... the inner pads tend to wear much quicker than the outer (outer is the one you can actually see), so it's always best to check when the wheel is off.
