I just bought a 2005 Hatchback that I picked up tonight. It came with two key-fobs but since the car is a few years old, any icons on all of the buttons on both fobs have worn away. The dealer showed us that you have to press the top right button twice to get the key to start the car, but that's it. Now I'm not sure what all the buttons do. I've read the manual tonight but no luck.
Could someone post up what each of the 4 buttons do when pressed once, twice and/or held down.
Thanks TM3.

ya I think the original key fob came with only 3 buttons (I have a 3 button version). The one that you are talking about is probably an aftermarket one.

its a 2005 so there is a good chance the original owner replaced them. they are quite worn so they look to be old and not recently replaced. the car is from Quebec, would that make a difference??

my car came from quebec and it has the original fobs..most likely the previous owner added an aftermarket alarm system to the vehicle..why not try out each button and see what they do:chuckle

trunk monkey FTW!!
I'll try them all tomorrow. what I think are the lock and unlock keep honking the horn and the neighbours will be getting upset - and I don't want to discover the panic button this late at night.
It's new and I'm excited so I don't have the patience to wait til morning and so far google is not my friend on this one ...

Here is a pic of the key fobs with the worn out buttons. As near as I can tell, this is what the bottons do (I've had time to figure it out but when I started the thread I was too impatient and it was late at night) ...
Top Left (once) - locks doors with horn sound
Top Left (twice) - nothing
Top Left (held) - nothing
Top Right (once) - unlocks with horn sound
Top Right (twice) - required to start ignition
Top Right (held) - nothing
Bottom Left (once) - locks without horn (if unlocked) OR unlocks without horn (if locked)
Bottom Left (twice) - nothing
Bottom Left (held) - nothing
Bottom Right (once) - remote starter
Bottom Right (twice) - nothing
Bottom Right (held) - nothing

So someone guessed it right - an aftermarket fob and used for a remote starter. Disappointing that there was no trunk monkey though ...

Well... you should find out what alarm / remote start is on the car. Most aftermarket alarms have a trunk-popper output. So all you would need is a relay and the actuator on the trunk....

I like the 4-eyes. I'm actually looking at an '85 if my '92 coupe sells in a few weeks.
