Hi Everyone,

Since I'm a total noob with regards to exhaust systems, I thought i'd ask on here. My friend has a Vibrant axle back that was on his protege 5, he's giving it to me for free so I thought i'd take it if it fits the mazda 3 sports. I know I should probably get a full CBE but considering I don't really care about performance (i'm not a racer), and i'm getting this for free I wanted to know if this would fit?

If so would there be any modifications that are needed to be made? If I get a picture of the axle back i'll post it on here.

Thanks!

Don't think it'd fit. Cars are not the same.

For example, tip of the exhaust isn't even on the same side.

Hmm it is a different car...but I don't think it matters which side the exhaust comes...the main problem I see is that the tubing is not the same and the mount is different on both cars. Then again I am a noob so you are probably right.

Well if the exhaust comes out the wrong side it indicates(to me at least) that the bends in the pipe are different, and as such would not be compatible. Another concern is the location of the exhaust hangers, I bet they wouldn't match up.

I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem worth it. At a bare minimum you'd need a shop to weld the axelback to the car, the 3's exhaust is all one piece after the flexpipe. And you're ending up with something not designed for your car.

I'll probably do a little more diggin but point taken...yeah if this requires any modification its probabably not worth it..Thanks!!!

with time and money you can do anything to your car.

there's too many things that won't work, just because its the same manufacturer doesn't imply same dimensions and specs.

And if its not even on the proper side of the car, that's an even bigger flag.

You can of course chop it all up and reweld all the pieces back together.

wouldnt come even close to fitting. even if you chopped off the piping i dont think you could make it fit. the muffler is quite large and the tip not very long so i dont think it would even sit properly underneath a 3 bumper.

it would be easy to sell on toprotege.com though.
