I was looking into a double DIN Nav unit for my 08.5, but I'm concerned about what all will be voided in my warranty. My biggest worry is that something goes wrong with the electrical system somewhere and Mazda won't cover it because I had an aftermarket HU installed.

Yes that is very possible, but if you're worried about that and want it done properly, I would get a pro shop to do it. TM3 has sponsors on this forum that can do the work for you.

Um, no, Mazda cannot void your electrical warranty at all. The onus would be on them to prove that the item installed caused the fault. Then the shop would be next on the list that installed it, did they do it properly or not.

If they prove the shop did a shit job and it screwed up your electrical system, then yes, they can void your warranty b/c it was tampered with, and is not a Mazda defect. Was told this by 2 dealers. I have only heard of this occurring once, and it was with a starter/alarm combo.

Dude was without a whip for nearly a month b/c the Mazda dealer couldn't figured out the problem lol.

+1

Just make sure you have someone reputable like one of our sponsors do the install and you shouldn't have any problems.
