Hi, I just washed the car under 2 hours ago and got rid of some minor scratches on my bumper with the Meguiars SCRATCH X 2.0, it works great for very fine scratches. I then noticed little dots all over the car that looks like rust, iam not too sure what these are but they are all over the car, its impossible to get it off by soap or a wash, I tried with my finger nail but it wouldent come off, I dont want to damage the paint. There is also a paint chip which is probebly 1.0 MM by 0.5MM high, does anyone know how I can fix this, its not a scratch its a rock chip that has completly removed the paint and the metal is exposed, any ideas on cost and how to fix it?
here is what I know by doing a bit of research online,
you can get rid of tree sap or these rust looking thigs by using couple of things
A) Nail polish remover
B) kitchen degreser
C) paint brush cleaner
all these seem like harsh chemicals that can potentially mess up the paint for good so I am asking you guys to give me your opinons on what to use.
Heres the pics for your reference, also if anyone knows of a site or forum with people knowlegeable in this type of stuff please post it .!
The last 2 pictures are the paint chip,

Proper detailing of your car should be as follows:
1. Soap up and rinse to get the majority of the dirt off. You may think the car is clean at this point but it isn't. If you run your hand on the surface you will notice that it's not smooth.
2. Now using a clay bar detailing kit like Meguiar’s (http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/product_detail.asp?T1=MEG+G1016), you clean the surface bonded contaminants. This should get rid of the those "rust" spots. When your done run your hand along the surface. It will be as smooth as glass.
3. Now apply wax and you're good to go.
Here is a great how to written by one of our members:

It takes a good bit of time but the results are amazing. I do this type of detailing 3 times a year. Before winter, after winter and mid summer.

Klasse AIO will get alot of the rust particles you mentioned out.. this stuff is amazing. It'll get out tar, road paint, brake dust, etc.. This is the first thing I turn to before using the claybar.
These are just road particles that get inbedded in your vehicles paint. It's just that your car is white so it is more noticeable.
how do i wax the car by hand, i have no clue or knowlege on how to do that
Get a wax applicator from canadian tire and get some microfiber towels.
Use the wax applicator and put some wax on it and rub in to car untill you waxed the whole car when it gets to a dry haze then go with the microfiber towel and wipe off all the wax..
This video will give you an idea on how to wax

I think I have read somewhere on this forum about where these rust spots come from. I dont remember the correct terminology, but this spots are actually some metal particles that get magnetically stuck to the cars metal surface when the car (when brand new)is being transported over rail. These particles rust over time. Its not the actual metal surface of the car that has rusted and therefore these spots can be removed.
as for the paint chips, just get the touchup paint from the dealer and paint it back...it may not be perfect but atleast it will not rust over time....I fix my paint chips as soons as I find them and use touchup paint to fix them....hope that helps.

Rail dust.
I would do alot of research before you do the full wash + dry + clay + wax.
You need good prep work and patience.
It's easy to swirl the paint when washing and possible to create scratches when claying.
But if you feel brave, go at it and learn as you go.
These are the steps you should go through.
1. Spray car down with water so all the dirt gets soaked and comes off easier. Pressure washer preferrably.
2. Wash car with microfibre mitt + car wash soap + bucket. 2 bucket system preferred or grit guard system. This part is so important, that it could be explained in another long post. This is where the most scratching/marring occurs. You can do research or watch youTube on how to properly do this step.
3. Clay entire car - all panels, windows, wheels. You need clay lube (exterior quick detailer). Spray the clay and spray the surface you're claying. Work in small areas. Anytime you feel resistance, dirt is being picked up. Inspect the clay and if you see particles stuck in the clay, remold it to get a new surface. If the clay isn't gliding easily, you need to spray more.
4. Rinse car again. Some do another wash to get any residue from claying off.
5. Dry car with quality microfibre towels. Dabbing technique is preferred over wiping.
6. Now that the surface is clean, you can finally wax. Work in small 4x4 ft areas, don't wax the entire car and then buff it all off. Your arm will fall off because the wax will have dried too long. As well, you'll get wax residue left on the paint. In addition, if you don't want black trim getting stained, you should tape them off with painter's masking tape.

I would say 90% of the "rail dust" is gone now and the car looks absoloutly brand new. The only thing that I could not get rid of was the paint chips which Iam still trying to figure out what to do !
heres my ratings for the following product.
Price: 9/10
Ease of use 7/10
Time spent on entire car excluding roof: approx 1.5 hours

Get the klass twins (I really, really like this product), about $50-$60.. you have to mail order it though. I use eshine.ca.
Wash it, clay it, seal it, glaze it, wax it. :bana

The top pictures is severe paint contamination. What you need is an ABC decontamination wash. If you clay bar that out, it will take you at least 7 hours (I learned the hard way!). An ABC wash is an acidic, basic, and neutralizer wash, in 3 steps designed to push all the metal particles out of the paint.
As for the chip, I believe I replied to your email and said to stop by and I'll take a look at it for you.
Tree sap can be removed with isopropyl alcohol.

Hey that ABC wash can I do it myself?
My contamination is similar.
Edit: did a bit of reading.. sounds scary... maybe I will just lose 7hrs claying :P

I'm pretty sure you can do this yourself. It smells horrible though.
It works a bit better if you have a foam gun too.
After you do the wash, do a clay bar treatment (will take you 30 minutes tops) and you should be left with next to zero contamination.
I may look into doing a group buy on this service but I have to look at any health ramifications this might have on me for extended periods of use, and of course the environmental factors as well. I can look into getting a wash bed that cars can drive on and trap water from going into the sewer.

what I really need to get rid off is the paint chips, I bought the paint pen yesterday and I can testify that it is absoloutly horrible. I taped off the section with no chip and coverd up the chip, its a white chip now so it doesent stand out as much but its absoloutly terrible looking, Iam going to have it repainted I think, iam gonna have Kaval take a look at it but probebly not till end of April since I have piles of Hw and exams coming up
Kaval a group buy sounds amazing, especially this season since everyones car is some what damaged

I can attest to that, I did two passes last year on my car with clay and it must have taken over 7 hours.
I have a lot of patience though and I'm not doing it for a living. =)

No problem guys. I feel bad for those who have this serious contamination. It's just a shame that car companies don't do this wash before delivering cars. It's actually an OE approved process for some auto manufacturers. I'm still in a bind here with ordering as the company's website is not working too well. Just waiting on a call back to find out what's going on. I will be ordering enough for 10-15 cars so spaces will be limited. Once I have the products here I will work out a final price.

before doing a claybar technique can I use a car was to wash off the car? then claybar.
then should I go back to the car wash.
Second question, assuming that I can take it to a car wash
what type of wash ... just the plain for the first wash, then clay then full wash and wax at the car wash.
I am not good at washing my car(ok ok... I'm just lazy haha) I want to keep my car looking nice but I don't want to spend hours doing it.
thanx
