generally speaking, after a car is released, how long before aftermarket parts are released for it?

They know you are anxious to get some so they are holding out just to annoy you...:chuckle
Sometimes right away, sometimes it may take 4-6 months, maybe longer before you start to see some new parts pop up.

I remember when the 3 first came out there were hardly any mods for it. Our TM3 sighting section consisted of posts when we saw stubbies. :) One of the biggest mods was picking up the Suzuki Aero stubbie from Joe back when he was up at Elgin Mills....times flies!

Like what? Alot of the aftermarket parts would be the same
(rims, bulbs, etc). Am I wrong?

I'd say generally within a year of launch. It again depends on how much of a dimensional change there is, and how much of a demand there is. If the new 3 sells like 100,000 plus units in the first 6 months of release in NA, Europe, asia and given the popularity of modding the previous generation they will be working harder to get them out there. I think the first things will likely be as mentioned above bulbs and tints and stuff, next will probably be exhausts, and interior stuff like seat covers. the things that will take the longest are things that will require molds to be made or that have to interface with the computers opperating system like, side skirts, cf body panels, hoods and light units, and engine mods

lol, my mom has an aerio - and i was joking around with them to swap antennas.. but i didn't actually do it
so the aerio stubby fits perfectly on the 3?
