Sure the fear is always there.. that it will hit the US or Canada or any other country for that matter..
I admit i dont know too much about the politics.. But why should we stop them from testing a missle.. if they start producing nuclear warheads and placing them on missles different story..
It's like how everyone is after Iran and their nuclear program.. Why should we stop Iran, unless they are shown to be creating weapons..
There are alot of uses for nuclear energy especially in a country like Iran..
Alot of it is just fear mongoring..
North Korea just feeds on the fact that the world is scared of them they can throw out all kinds of threats..
Maybe the US should geet rid of its ammunition piles..
Didn't Conficker just send a US nuclear Missle Defense site into DEFCON 3 the other day?
I'm going to believe if something happens to us it will be our own faults, such as a mishap at a missle site and not a 3rd world country trying to destroy us..
lol i'm done :gone

No they are not alowed to launch a missle or satilite into space or even in the air they signed an agreement in 2006 with the UN and if they do its jus provoking it.

Yup. Been all over the news for the last little bit. Odds are nothing will happen. Last time they tried to launch one of these missiles it failed.

I think they're just using the data from the launch to develop a better ICBM, probably to extort more aid from the rest of the world while starving their own people to death. If they shoot it down, North Korea will be pissed and be back to square one.
Most likely they're going jam the crap out of the signal and shoot it down with another missle.

I personally wish north korea does something stupid and attack south korea or japan when they shoot down their missle, the people of north korea deserves better than under the rule of crazy kim and they deserve to live a free life and not constantly fearing for their lives.

Unfortunately if North Korea responds with aggressive action, everyone is going to be in trouble. Not only will innocent lives be wasted if they do attack Japan, or anyone else, but it could cause another war, which the world really doesn't need right now, or ever.

North Korea has really antiquated armaments, I don't think Japan will be threaten, except when we're talking about their missile development. The only damage I see is if they invade on the ground, then there's going to be a bloodbath. The have 1 million men army.

1 million men CONSCRIPTED army which yes they have the numbers but the condition and the ability of their army is limited. They would resort to the old style horde invasion in which they try mass numbers to overwhelm their opponent..this strategy is obsolete in modern day warfare and easily counterable. Not to mention that NK army is poorly outfitted and their soldiers malnourished, only blood bath I would see is on the NK side the effect they would impose onto say SK or japan is not significant

Don't be surprised if they have better-than-expected weapons. Silent commie friends with deep pockets may have already made "healthy contributions".

I believe that there is a quote by Stalin:
"Quantity has a quality of it's own."
You mention '.. is obsolete in modern day warfare & easily counterable...', but you seem to forget Vietnam (U.S. have in comparison very modern weapons and they had to 'retreat with honour') and look at Iraq and Afghanistan right now - the 'enemy' there is not fighting with overly modern equipement I'd say. If they have the determination, they're more likely to win.
It only takes one bullet/grenade to kill the operator of any modern piece of military equipment. Send 1,000 guys to charge a bunker and odds are, at least one guy is going to get to that bunker while they're changing belts/reloading and get them.
The fact that they are a starving nation (food riots, etc) in NK only gives 'motivation' to the 1 million troops to win IMHO, and that even if only 10% survive in the end that still leaves 100,000 troops ready to keep marching into SK. Further, the public may be supportive of this effort/action in NK - if they are, think again back to Vietnam - the U.S. forces on a numerical basis won the war - but they lost support at home, which is why they 'lost'.
If I remember correctly - NK has howiters that can launch shells around 26km - the capital of SK is only 25km away form the DMZ (something to what I'm describing here).

It's the people of N.Korea that are malnourished. All the food goes to the army.
