Hey everyone. The wifes car has no cruise control from factory.. is it as simple as getting the cruise control steering wheel and a brake switch, and voila, we have cruise?? Do we even need a brake switch actually? Cause you have to press the brakes to switch out of park, so there has to be a switch there already, no?

Some input would be great, cause the wife loves cruise control... and it could help her fuel economy due to her lead... or cast iron... foot. :bang

You need a new brake switch if you want to add cruise to her car. You don't need an entire wheel but if you can find one used then it's a good way to go. The switches can be bought separate as well. I think someone is selling a steering wheel with cruise control already in the buy/sell section.

Yeah, I saw that ad, but it sold already. Thats what made me think of it. So all you have to do is buy the proper switch, and plug in the controls and all is good? No extra wires, no computer programming??

yes, pretty much. I'm planning on doing it as soon as I find the switches or a steering wheel with switches.

there's another thread on these forums with part numbers and links to another forum that contains actual instructions with pictures.

One thing you must do prior to installing cruise control.... Since you are taking off the steering wheel/airbag MAKE SURE TO UNPLUG BATTERY of car!!

you dont want that airbag to deploy accidentally.

I've installed a few of these kits and yes you will need to disconnect the battery and remove the airbag.
