So after 3 rounds of rust removal, I think I may finally be finished bugging the poor dealership I've been working with on this issue.

When I got the car back, it looked great!!! They even kindly fixed up a nasty scratch on my bumper that was on the car when I bought it, at no charge!

But it wasn't until I got home that I noticed the sloppy job the body shop did... not only was my interior muddy and dusty, and looked like the doors had been tossed on the ground, but the exterior shows over spray on the front, and there are blobs of body fill on my door handle and on my BRAND NEW friggin tail lights that I just bought not even a month ago...

I'm willing to let the over spray and the dirty interior go, but the white smudge on my housing is bugging the hell outta me... I've tried to scrub it off but nothing seems to work... I'm afraid I'll scratch the plastic if I scrape it and paint thinner might take off the UV coating.

Any ideas on how I can get rid of this? I'm trying to avoid going back and complaining to them again as I'm sure they've seen enough of me at this point... lol :whoa

Thanks guys!

You can try some kind of plastic scraper to 'very carefully' get the glob off, whilst keeping the area well lubricated and then use a rubbing compound on a wet towel to clean the rest....it's worth a try.

But I would not hesitate to bring the vehicle back and demand 'nicely' that they bring the car up to specs, it sure sounds like shabby un-professional work to me and you as the customer should not have to settle with that....(And they know it).

Good luck.

Try claying the light. Should do the trick.

Screw them, leave it as-is and take it back and complain!

Hmm clay bar... that actually might have been a good idea! But, I bit the bullet today and called to complain... lol

They were good about it they're gonna take it off (or order me a new light if they scratch it up)... fff shabby un-professional work INDEED.

Thanks for the replys! :)

Just be careful that they don't scrape it off with anything (like a blade or sharp edge), or use harsh chemicals for removal. Your safest bet is to DIY with clay bar and some patience :)

Hopefully they will sand it with 3000 grit then polish the lens afterwards.

I would have, but I ran over on my lunch today and they took it off with this cream, not sure what it was... they said it wouldn't affect the coating... guess we'll find out.

There's a little scratch now under where the fill was but it's not too noticeable.

Anywayyyyy problem solved! :)
