I purchased the Mr Klean car wash sprayer the other day. This thing comes with a filter to remove hard water minerals. As well it comes with a soap that says it has some sort of polymers that stop water spots. I guess with the water filter and the soap your car can dry without water spots.

I recently purchased a big jug of meguires gold class car wash. I’m not sure it this has anything like this in the soap, but what I thought I could do to get the same effect as the mr klean soap (have not tried mr klean soap yet). What I thought of was using Jet Dry, the stuff you use in your dish washer to eliminate spots on dishes. I was thinking of combining a little jet dry with the meguires (sp) gold class soap in the Mr klean sprayer to get the same effect.

What do you all think of this?
Could the jet dry damage the car’s paint?
Could it work?
Has anyone tried this?

As well what do you guys/gals use to dry your car.
Has anyone use a genuine chamois?
Does it dry your car nice?

Other questions

Does genuine sheep skin mitt do a better job of washing your car and protecting the paint. How do you wash the sheep skin mitt. Does it shrink?
Actually I just purchase a genuine sheep skin mitt from walmart. It didn’t say genuine sheep skin wool just genuine sheep skin. Maybe it is just the skin that is genuine and simulated wool. Have to wonder. I only payed about $7 for this. How can I tell if it is genuine sheep wool?

Sorry for the long post

Is this the Auto-Dry thing?
I bought one and used it for a while. I thought it worked ok if you're patient and thorough with the final spray, but it uses a lot of water and it's not a perfect spotless dry. My understanding is you always have to use the special soap or it won't work properly (they say using other soap may clog/damage your filter). It may have been my imagination but it looked like it left a bit of a film on the car, so when I bought my Speed 3 I stopped using it and bought myself a Dehydrator towel.. now THERE'S a product I recommend!

Yes, except it works :)

There was a group buy on them a while back. You can order them from E-Shine (or maybe some sponsors on the board?). Do a search to find out about them.. I think feedback on them is universally positive. Absolutely one of the best things I've bought for my car.. makes drying a snap, even with black cars which can be tricky to keep clear of water spots.

Whatever the case, if you're going to use the Auto-Dry kit I would *not* mix and match soaps/chemicals to try and emulate the special soap that Mr. Clean pushes on you. I'd stick with the manual to get the best results.

The bf tried putting Simple Green car wash into the Mr Clean Auto Dry and it clogged it up. I used to use one before as well. RELIGIOUSLY. Till I read that the Mr Clean Soap strips your wax really bad so I stopped using it.

I used to have it. Used it twice and threw it in the garbage.

Enough said. :)

I've used the Mr Clean car wash kit all last summer for about 10 washes after Kaval (Make it Shine) had detailed the car. Had good results with the spotless drying using the Mr Clean soap and filter. Didn't notice the wax disappearing.

Most of the pictures in my members rides' thread shows my car a few days after being washed with the kit.

You cannot use any other soap with the Mr Clean sprayer, it'll not work.

And donnot use Jet Dry on your vehicle. Ever!

The maquire's you bought is specially formulated for car paint surfaces so your fine there.

For a spottless dry,...You can get practically the same results by properly rinsing the vehicle after washing using a good MicroFibre drying towel or synthetic chamois or both!.The secret is ; when doing the final rinse, take the gun or sprayer off the garden hose and with just straight water i.e low-pressure, just rinse!...You'll be amazed how little water remains on the surface of the vehicle (especially if it's well waxed).

I use the 'Absorber' type synthetic chamois (and have been for many years) with great results, to absorb any excess water from the larger panels; roof, hood etc, by simply spreading the cloth out and then pulling it off in a light touch fashion,....then use a Micro-Fibre Drying Towel for the rest of the panels.

I then usually go over all panels again with two clean mf cloths to give it that detailed look :chuckle It's a relatively easy method, it's safe on the paint as this method greatly lessens any chance of leaving spider-web scratches and say good-bye to water spots! :)

thanx guys. I think I will return the Mr Klean as I do not want to be limited to just their soap. great tips.

One other question. how do the coin-op car washes work. I've never used them I have just used the drive thru type in the past.

what do they give you for your money.

For $3 you usually get 5 minutes. You will have a dial and it takes you step by step. Step 1 - rinse off, Step 2 - High pressure, Step 3 - foam brush, Step 4 - High Pressure rinse off, Step 5 - wheel/tire cleaner etc. I'm just thinking of the steps from the top off my head but if you take a brush to your car make sure to spray it with the highpressure before hand to take off any dirt. I always see mud covered trucks in these coin ops and the guys take the brush to the mud and dirt which probably remains on the brush

wow. 5min for 3 bucks... I can't see getting your car done in that amount of time. i guess i'll just have to do it in my drive way... the only thing is that I had my car for only 3 day before I washed it. I had driven in some mud and my car was dirty on one side. I think the neighbours thought I was crazy. lol

+1

I wash my car, and sheet the water to prevent water spots and use a waffle weave MF cloth to dry the left over water.
