Hello,
I'm new to this website:). Bought a new 2008 mazda 3 GT 2 months ago. Yesterday when i checked tranny fluid it was showing only upto half way between the two marks, Shouldn't it be all the way upto the top mark???

I took it to the dealer and the guy said that as long as the part of the dip stick that has a twist in it is wet, its ok. What do u guys say?

plus what kind of tranny fluid should i use, coz the manual doesn't say anything. The dealer guy said they cant say anything about outside brands, and i have to buy it from them (mazda brand).

any thoughts or suggestions would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

The level should fall between the 2 notches in the dip stick where it says 65*C.

It's okay to have it anywhere in between the marks, but make sure you are checking the transmission level under the right conditions!!.

Check the owner's manual for proper conditions in which to check it.

And ideally you want the level at the top mark.

well i guess the right condition would be when the car is idling right? And just curious does it matter where the rpm needle should be when checking the tranny oil level?

Thanks

Well, what exactly does it say in your Owner's manual? That would be the best place to get the info!

Usually you would have the vehicle running and at 'normal operating temperature', meaning you'd want to drive her for awhile first, then once all is warmed up and sitting at idle is when your checking the level of the fluid!...this is pretty typical but I can't stress enough getting the info straight from the manual, cause different manufacturers can have different methods.
