not an iphone guy, more phones out there with better features and functions.. there was nothing really revolutionary about the iphone except maybe the accelerometer or whatever that flips the screen for you..
HTC and Nokia's are what i stick to.
Apple products are for ppl who need to compensate for something :chuckle:gone haha (I just opened myself up for a flame war)

hahaha nice one omalak.
Personally I've owned both (BB and the iPhone). Both are pretty and do many things but I like keeping it to the basic...that's why I'm rocking the Motorola i580 Mike phone ;)

Because...
I'm an Apple guy. The iPhone is missing a few key OEM features that you can find on a lot of other phones. Safari is great though.

Not revolutionary? I really disagree. The iPhone user interface is gorgeous and easy to use, and RIM is still playing catch-up launching the Storm to mixed reviews a year an a half after the arrival of the first gen iPhone. The app store make the iPhone the gift that keeps on giving, and again RIM catches up long afterwards. For ages after it launched every new handset called itself "the iPhone killer" (although nobody really has killed it, have they?). I've worked in the wireless industry for ten years, and while handsets rarely excite me any more, I was so jazzed about the iPhone that my co-workers teased me about it (and still do). The iPhone was a major game-changer.
Yes there are other phones that have more features, but the iPhone presents the ones that I actually use far and away in the best way to suit my tastes. I believe Blackberries are better for messaging, but the iPhone's web surfing is the best, and I don't usually like making long diatribes via handheld devices anyway (this post being one of the longer messages I've sent from my iPhone). And since I surf, listen to music, watch podcasts or TV shows and play the odd game on my daily 2-hour commute on the GO train/TTC, my iPhone has been my device of choice in staving off boredom!

Seriously, I got mine to give me something to do on my commute (watch videos, surf the net), and I think the user interface is absolutely gorgeous so as a techie kind of fan I was dying to play with it. Turns out I use it a lot more than I thought I would when I bought it.

I got my smartphone mainly because I wanted a fully-functional calendar, which I could sync with my desktop. I have a problem keeping appointments straight in my head, so I needed a way to keep an up-to-date schedule with me. A bonus is being able to check my email when I'm out away from a computer all day.

watching videos on a small screen doesn't seem to give the same impact as watching it at home on a big screen. All I have is an MP3 to listen to music and cross word puzzles or Sudoku etc, a lot cheaper...to keep me busy,
how much do people pay a month for these gadgets? just curious...not a techie.

Of course watching a video on an iPhone is a different experience from watching something on a home theatre, but that's not an option on the GO train. The screen's amazing resolution actually makes video watchable (I forget I'm watching such a small screen), and the fact that I can watch shows on the train that my wife has absolutely no interest in watching at home with me means I can stay on top of shows I like without cutting into "quality time" with her.
And I play at least one game of Sudoku every day without wasting paper. :)
As far as the cost, I honestly forget since it's all wrapped into my Rogers bill. It is expensive though, and if it weren't for my commute I would have had a harder time justifying the purchase (although I would have).

+1 on the calendar function. I'm on the older Curve (8310) and maximize my calendar usage. Texting/Msging is quick too and having emails on hand when i'm NOT near a computer is a definitely plus (what the heck was that address I was suppose to meet with so-and-so TM3er at???) :)
Having web access is great too. I check pricing when I'm at a store and happen to see something I'd like but don't want to get jipped on.
For those on Rogers, they've recently come out with a packaged Blackberry option; email + IM + call ID + extended voicemail + UNLIMITED SMS texting for $25
Or $35 for the above + 500MB data

I love my iphone, it does 80% of what i'd use a laptop for without having to carry around a laptop, and having decent speed data connection instead of hunting for wifi.
I can't live without it for work now.
Apps, games & eBooks are just the bonus that keeps giving.

I am a protective boyfriend, not a nosy one. As i can see, the Ladies don't need protection from us though (more like we need it from them)...
next mod will be machine guns straight from "007" firing right at boyfriends' heads...
