I posted a similar question in the exterior section but didn't get the response I would like. I own a Black ms3.... I thought about these rims. I'd like to have straight black rims. Show off your pics to me. May spark a idea for me. Thanks

Looks like speed 6 rims.... kinda looked chromed in one pic. Not bad but I heard that is done a lot.

Just noticed you have them on your banner in black. I like the fill in look. Don't really want to show off the brakes. Although I was planning on painting the calipers red.

I'm not really digging the ones that you posted.

I do like the look of powder coated MS3 or MS6 wheels.

Maybe post up a few different options.

x2, i think most people with some taste will agree. might want to try msf.org since they have a big wheels pic section that would give you some ideas

its a bmx but from the side it looks the same as a black hatch, i personally love black with a polished chrome lip, so thats my opinion.

don't do gloss black on a black car. Doesn't make the car look good IMO

come to think of it
unless ur car is piano black haha
gloss black will stick out like a sore thumb and take away emphasis from the "total package" look of the black

I checked out your ride KI and your rims don't look anything like the ones the OP posted a link to below. These just look too busy for me.

Have you thought of bronze? :chuckle

personally, I used to love the deep dish look with the fat lip...but having seen the trend from major automakers (ie. BMW and Audi), the current trend is to enlarge the face of the rim as much as possible (think GTI, M5/M6, Audi S6)...flat face (or slight concave) from centre of wheel to the edge of rim...

that's why I think UOU's setup had that Euro-look...MS6's are flat and extend all the way to the outer edge of the rim.

I think the multi-spoke is way too busy for your car...something machined-black w/ or w/o a chrome lip would be nice. That murdered-out (black out) look is really cool when you get it right...

lol barry you're right
i clicked on this link and didn't pay close enough attention
i just looked the the model number LF-10 and thought off the bat they were the same
now when i look i realized there are a few more spokes cuz of the "over lay rim" that he attaches on to it

but i agree
not a big fan of those multi spokes
my bad! haha

The Enkei on the bottom was one of the first rims I was looking at. I had a problem with half of the online people telling me they wouldn't work with the MS3 calipers.

Ya the spokes extending is the look that I want. It makes the wheel diameter look larger. Also emphasizes the lower part of the car. I hate rims that are 18" but look 16". Then the car extra large riding on training wheels.

Looks like the Enkei LF-10's.... ones I was considering. Thanks.. nice to see them on my own car.

But man ..... why is rim selection for this car so much harder then it was for my other car. F*** sakes. Simply Tire has those Tenzo's M Black ... hmm we will see.

Choice #1 .

But I am a little partial, they look very similar to mine.:chuckle

The polished (#3) would be my second choice, might offset a black car nicely too.

Well got rims installed today and they look great. Met "Mazda3X2" there... forgive me if I'm wrong I have a hard time remembering names .. Perry .. right? I had a issue when driving home. Huge vibrations on the 401. I felt a little at 70 kph but just thought it was the road. Ended up being the clip that holds the centering ring in. They fell out on both left rims as they were being put on. Then since they were half circles and were held by the threads from falling the rim was pushed out on one side. The rims actually wobbled when spun by hand. Anyway it was a easy quick fix. I got these rims from Tirerack which were fantastic again btw. Wheels arrived in 3 days to my door double packaged. It was kinda odd these clips fell out since they were fine with my Momo Racers. Anyway this weekend I'll put up a pic. Oh and tirerack said recommended tire size was original equipment size. Doesn't look wide enough to all that saw them. They are 18X8 wheels...... what tire size do you think I need to keep my speedometer accurate?

Mazda3X2
05-14-2009, 09:01 PM
It was good meeting you today! It's Barry, you were close anyways. :chuckle

Your car is looking great with those new rims. Always good to see another Speed in these parts, there aren't too many.

I think a good fit tire would either be a 225/40R18 or 235/40R18. I have the 225's and like them. And although the 235's would be more accurate with regards to speedo and overall diameter, I think people stay away from them because of the weight.

Take care, and good luck with the modding.:)
