1) steering , i find when im on the highway the car seems to really want to wander find it difficult to keep it in a straight line . no other car i have drove has ever been like that .. have had ( ball joints , tie rods , tires ) all checked every things good . any ideas ? is this normal ?
2) cars a 5spd and some times its next to impossible to get it in the reverse .. sit there and it just wont go in to R i put it in to 1st then try R and no luck after like 10 trys it will finnaly go in .. any ideas why ? linkage ?
3) i find the fly by wire throttle is odd a bit laggy , and trying to maintain a set speed is difficult seems very very little movement in throttle makes a massive diff in speed ,
+ has any one tried the "" sprint booster "" www.sprintboosterusa.com
im use to driving cars like turbo eclipses , STi's , or V8s
so this cars quite a change for me so im not sure if this stuff is normal ..
thanks for any imput
Cheers

I've experienced problems one and two, but have not experienced no. three.
For no.1, I found it went away after I had my springs put on and an alignment done!...Which of the two solved the 'wandering'?? Your guess is as good as mine LOL but I would guess the alignment.
For the 2nd problem I have found, if at first it doesn't go into reverse, throw it in neutral, release the clutch, push the clutch in and it will slip into reverse with no effort.
Hope that helps!:)

I agree with 1 and 3 notice the same, have a auto so 2 doesn't apply to me
The sprint booster looks interesting...

one of the sponsers was having a group buy on the sprint boosters I think they were in the $300 and change range. I've noticed the same thing especially when I"m downshifting and trying to rev match. that little hesitation is annoying. I'm starting to get the timing for it but still annoying.

the sprint booster is pretty cool , a friend put it on his cooper S and made a massive diff car feels so much faster and snappier .
i just bought the car little over a month ago i would assume a alignment was done ?
car seems to drive straight in the city , just find at highway speeds it wanders ( kinda floaty )
yeah i did find putting it in to N then letting the clutch out and trying again that it would go in much easier ..

Luckily I was the test car for the SprintBooster for the MS3. They have 2 options.
1) Manual version. Very fast response, feels like 25% pedal position is 100% throttle. Car feels like you're on it all the time. Good for the track, but I have my questions about it being good for daily driver.
2) Auto version. (don't get hung up on the Manual/Auto designations, they're just names). Not as aggressive as the Manual one, this time 50% pedal = 100% throttle. Better for daily driving, but not as fast for track.
Now what they need to do is come up with a version that allows you to switch between the 2, along with it not being used at all ;) ....... stay tuned :)
I can of course get these. PM me for pricing, no need for a Group Buy.

I think I'll wait until they come up with that one, before jumping into into it. oh are there different ones for the 2.0, 2.3 N/A, and 2.3 turbo?

I believe the one for the regular 3 and Speed 3 are different, at least they have different part numbers. Either way I'd confirm fitment before selling.
If/when the variable version becomes available I'll be getting one for my own vehicle, so you can then see it in action.

1) Is your suspension stock? And how many km's and what road conditions do you drive in? The car, on a stock suspension, in known to feel like it 'floats'.
2) I have the same problem. Sometimes the suggestion above works. What I find works every time is to put it back in first and go forward an inch (distance doesn't matter, just move forward). Then stop and reverse.
3) Sprintbooster is a neat concept. Did your friend have auto or manny tranny?

I think the whole reverse engagement problem might be because the teeth on the gears aren't quite in alignment. ie teeth meeting teeth. that's why the moving forward works, changing the alignment of the gear teeth to each other. and double clutching lol I don't know why it works but it seems too. I guess it's not a big enough issue to worry about adding a synchromesh into the reverse gears!

FWIW, reverse works differently that the forward gears. Forward gears work by sliding a couple of plates back and forth that lock on to the gears. Sychros are basically small clutches that let the plate and gear match speed as they engage. For reverse you are sliding the teeth of one gear into a another. So adding a sychro is not really practical. As froggy pointed out, sometimes you need to nudge things a bit to get the gears to line up enough to mesh.

reverse is also a straight cut gear... hence the whine while reversing

My 2006 manual states that if the gearbox was engaged in a forward gear, it will not shift into reverse without first shifting into neutral. It's to prevent you from accidentally going from fifth gear into reverse gear, which would destroy the gearbox and damage the remainder of your drivetrain -- something you really don't want.
If you're stationary, what Flagrum suggested is the right thing to do.

^ ageed that what you have stated is correct. With the 5spd manual transmission you will, by default, shift into neutral when going from 1st to R.
Flagrum's tip works for me sometimes, but not every time. I've found that rolling forward then reversing always works for me.
*edit* I meant to state that I come to a stop before reversing.

my 3 has about 85km on stock springs .. roads i drive on are average city and highway.
for what its worth i mite toss on some springs ..
i do find with the clutch that if i let it out just before it grabs it will pop in to gear ... i mite try some synchro shift or some thing of them lines ..
sprint booster making it feel like im on it all the time is a good thing lol ... i think JRP quoted me 320 for one ... i mite look more in to it
my friends car was paddle shift . and he loved the sprint booster

I would hold off on the sprintbooster for a little while (unless you have 300 bones burning a hole in your pocket). Some peeps down south are trying to design a generic version of it.
