GI: TM3 Ball Hockey

I really want to set something up because I want to play some hockey. For the past few weeks I have been playing with the idea of starting a pick-up ball hockey every two or three weeks for the summer. I am thinking sunday afternoons might be best, something like around 2:00pm. Now I am not sure how many people play on rollerblades and so am also toying with the idea of roller hockey or playing on feet.

I have added a poll to the top, and if you are interested please vote so that I can see where the most interest lies. It will probably be on foot but if enough people say roller hockey, I will try and setup a game or two. I will start a list below and ask that if you are interested, please add your screen name, location, and if you have any goalie equipment or hockey nets. if there is enough interest and this picks up then I may purchase two nets myself and bring them out each time.

The location is still in the air because I need to see where most people interested would be located. More then likely it would be a school parking lot around 2:00pm on sundays and hopefully somewhere central like Hwy400/401 area. If you have any ideas please mention them when you add yourself to the list.

I dont think its as serious as a whole load of gear. I tend to like to play with gloves on but other then that I didn't plan on any other gear. As for skill level, its not about how good you are (except for East vs West games...). I just want to be able to get out and play some hockey HAHA. The skill levels will vary with everyone.

We will have to see about goalies mostly, if we cant get enough to show up then we will have to resort to aiming at a target in the net or something for points. Maybe we can convince Ami to let TM3 chip in for gear if this picks up :chuckle

What size nets are you guys using? I normally play ball hockey with my friends but we don't use a 6x4 net lol. We use one size lower than it.

Do you guys need a goal-tender? I'm not the biggest guy though...... 5'4... and my equipment isn't that good but hey... if you guys need a goal-tender, lemme know!

It looks like a large west-side, non-rollerblade contingent. May I suggest looking into a GO station parking lot as a potential... I used to play in the Streetsville parking lot all the time, no cars/buses on Sunday.

I actually work around there and my work parking lot would be a ghost town on the weekend. I think its too far for the East guys though, I understand there is a ton of West enders but I still want the East enders to come out as well.

I'd make the trip for a good game. My only issue with Sunday evenings, is I play football Sunday evening/night. What about Sunday 10am'ish ?

a location that i've found rather decent was the Bell Canada Parking lot on Creekbank Road and Eglington in Mississauga/Etobicoke border

Only issue is that it's not fenced... so if the ball is shot far away....
it'll be a nice adventure to go pick it up.

This lot is usually dead on weekends lol and it's a new building
so the pavement is very fresh/smooth

This location is very close to the Mississauga Monday meets location which is about 2 mins away.

I'd love to play some ball hockey this summer also. Weekends in the summer are not great for me though, as I'm usually at the boat or karting, but if I know in advance that we have a game, I'll try to make it out. I'll put myself in the east squad since i'm in Newmarket and east of Yonge street.

I know of one location that would be more or less central for everyone and that we will not get kicked out of. A group of us play ball hockey here from October to May on Saturday mornings and have been playing here for about 10 years+, so the security leaves us be. Our season just ended last week, so I'd love to continue playing.

The location is the Canada weather, national atmospheric parking lot on Dufferin, just south of Steeles on the east side of the road. See link for map specifics:

So it looks like there is about 15 people from the west. With that much of a towering number I am leaning towards finding a location around 427 and 401. I know there are a lot of businesses around there and KenYork's suggestion of Centennial Park is not far off.

Theres not much else in equipment that people need. I need to find some nets, that is the hard part. One more set of goalie equipment too...

Why...lol, you got two guys bringing their's, lol. I prefer being up front center, so my equipment is all yours to use..lol..I just don't have a mask, that's why i prefer tennis balls and it's easier going for everyone than the orange ones.

I have a net but it's a 54" x 44" one. I also have some cheapy Road Warrior goalie equipment and a Sherwood goalie stick if needed... but take note, I'm not a big guy. I'm only 5'4 and my goalie pads are already a bit small for me (I still use them anyways though).

If you guys reaaally need a goalie though, I guess I can play it... just don't shoot it too hard at me :chuckle

You are free to use my equipment also. I have a mask, small street hockey pads, shin pads and a right handed blocker. No catching glove. I'll bring all the equipment with me also.

I believe what KenYork is trying to say is that random non-TM3 people at the moment aren't being considered as it is trying to be set up as a TM3 event. That may change later but for now, I believe it is the case.

In other words, he wasn't saying you weren't but more picking up on the "randoms" you had listed.
