Well, as most of you know I've been hassled a lot for my horrible cell camera shots lol. So drooling at SLRS and thinking why.. why can't I have something like that ... I went out and bought a 12.1mp Digital Camera. The Canon PowerShot SD780 IS . By far my favorite feature is ...... HIGH DEFINITION VIDEO RECORDING .... WHAT THE #$*% ..... lol it's awesome. It's only 720p but still..... speachless.
**HELP** I have an OLD pc and for some reason why I transfer the HD video to my pc it lags... looks amazing but LAGS... Now when I took the first shots.. they were 4000 X 3000 so a tad too big :chuckle so I am assuming my HD video is 4000 X 3000 factory settings. Should I just make the resolution lower to get a better result. I just want to make HD vids of Kingston Meets and an HD video for the Bubba Q .
Anyways I'm no expert and I'll post specs up later here is a lil sample.

To play back HD videos, you'll probably need a better computer.. Btw, your videos are 1280x720 assuming you're recording at 720P. When I edit my videos, I have to compress them since my computer can't handle it straight outta the camera and my computer is decent
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual 5000+
2GB Memory
NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT
Let's not confuse megapixels with quality.. DSLR vs anything else = incomparable :P

anyway, congrats on your new toy!

lol ran out of shots outside.. it was raining... ,
aparently if I dropped the resolution from 1280X720 to 640X480 I'll be shooting standard quality movies... this sucks. Since I bought the camera for the HD video and my pc can't handle it.

why do you insist on shooting in HD anyway? I can see the benefit of widescreen, but just like when I use my point and shoot (which is 10mp) i turn it down to 2mp resolution.. no need for such large files (slower upload to computer, slower upload to facebook and more storage space on pc)

If your computer has a PCIE video card slot just go get and ATI RADEON HD card. As they have hardware acceleration, then you won't tax your CPU. My boss was decoding 1080p on a computer that only had a single core 3.0 in it, because the video card does it all.

hahaha kiddin' around.
Greg, I know when I worked at Queen's we had a Sony video camera (not a point and shoot) that did 1080p. The video file size was absurd, it had a built in 80gb hard drive. It was a pretty penny too. Your better off shooting a lesser quality film cause your gonna downsize them anyways when you upload them to where ever on the net.

14 seconds = 50 megs something dumb like that. Aparently according to http://photography-on-the.net/forum/index.php you can d/l a codec to make sure your HD videos aren't choppy and laggy with sound even with a crappy video card. Worse comes to worse I'll sellout and buy a DLSR lol jk

hahahah sell it and buy a DSLR that does HD video too :P
