I don't think you need any tools but you do need to remove some plastic parts.
Remove the air duct running to your battery box. You should be looking at the top of the air box once the duct is removed. I don't recall how many, but there are silver clips holding the top of the air box on. Most likely 4 clips. The top of the box should lift off with little effort. You will be able to access the air filter when the top is off. If you're putting too much strain on the maf harness, I believe you can still pull out the air filter by lifting one side of the lid to the air box.
*edit* you don't need to remove the cover on the batt box, just undo the clips and lift the front. You can slip the air duct out. Also, you can remove the duct and the plastic triangle part as a single piece if you remove the triangle from the car as opposed to undoing it from the air duct. (I hope that made sense!)
ya thanks..i wanted to know is if the battery cover needs to be removed. One of the clips is broken.
Every time they do an oil change at the dealer the inspect the air filter according to all my invoises...so one of the mecahnics broke the clip..and it pisses me off the it got broke but they never bothered to replace it.
Tomorrow morning i am going to the dealer and giving them a blast of shit and i am going to tell them that the last guy who worked on my car is no longer allowed to work on my car:flaming
dealer is replacing part that they broke:lock

I couldn't stop laughing when I first read this. :chuckle
Anyway, good to hear they replaced it. Nothing's worse when they deny their wrong doing.

When the dealer breaks something or a part when they are servicing a car, they have to replace it, considering they admitted to their fault.
Changed my air intake filter last year, summer 2008, with FRAM CA-9898 which I purchased in California for about CA$ 11.00. Walmart have this for about CA$ 22.00 if I am not mistaken.
