I know this is for lease and finance payments but I thought I'd share my price in hopes that others would too (just to gauge what the cars are going for).
Purchase Price: $23,700 plus pst/gst (no financing, paid cash)
2007 Mazdaspeed3
Purchased in Nov '08 with 5,800 km from Mazda dealer.
Balance of warranty starting from Mar '07
Car was undercoated and rust proofed
Clean carfax with no incidents

They talked about carfax on 60 min. or was it dateline NBC .. ah doesn't matter .. but they say it is crap. They don't get anything about the car till it is reported. They showed cars that they test drove and then checked that had major accidents but carfax said it was clean. At one point during the show the carfax changed as they were looking at the site. Don't trust it.... get it checked out.

Yeah, it actually wasnt carfax that I used. It was some Canadian equivalent. Whatever the case maybe, it looked mint without any prior damage that i could tell. Also had a mechanic buddy with me that said it looked mint as well. So far so good.

Nothin'. Mine's paid for. Woot!! :D
Funny though... I look back to when I was paying well over $400/mo for my Sunfire... You can get WAY better cars today for the same money you'd have paid 8 or 9 years ago!!!

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you suggesting that everyone should have enough cash to buy a car if it's less than $30k or something? I'm confused.

I meant domestic cars depreciate very quick, let's say you still have 2 years to finance at 10k, your car worth only 6500$. That doesn't make sense.

1.4% finance, 7 years, 0 down @ $450/month

How many people on this board aren't upside down with their car loans? I don't think it's uncommon to be in a position like this at all.
My MS3 is about 9 months old, I still owe around $32,000 on it. No way could I get anywhere close to that selling it.

For the first 2-3 years, it depreciate much quicker, but it slow down within 2-3 years and will able to break even your left over payment and market value of the car.

Regardless, that's no reason not to finance a car. If some fast-depreciating car happens to be the one that best suits your needs, and you don't have the cash in the bank to buy it, how else do you suggest you get it?
Your argument seems to just be that nobody should buy a new car that's going to depreciate quickly.
Heck, you can buy a 7 series fresh off lease with low km's for under $50k. New ones start over $100k. Are you suggesting that nobody should ever buy a new one?
Many people just want a new car with warranty and everything. If you're not planning to sell it, then the depreciation becomes somewhat meaningless (unless you write it off I suppose).

I tend to agree with SKYMP3 on this. It's easier to reach this "break even" point in comparison to domestic cars, although there's never guarentee on car prices :bang

I'm NOT against financing at all. I did financed my old car as well.
My point was financing a domestic car that worth almost nothing after 4-5 years is sad.
Look at the 2006 Cobalt, 2005 Malibu, they are just damn cheap in the used market. I would rather finance something that hold their value a bit longer (Japanese cars).

Right. So you're just saying that people shouldn't buy domestics. Has nothing to do with whether you finance it or not. :)

Lol, way to make a mountain out of a mole hill guys!
Everyone has different opinions and none of them are right or wrong. I'm sure WW isn't going to start financing only Japanese cars because thats what skymp3 likes, and I'm sure skymp3 won't start financing domestics just because WW has before and sees no problem with it. Let's just all get along and get back on topic!!!
