Alright long story short..my dad owns a grocery store and a few weeks ago we took the garbage to our local dump. Next day I noticed a crap load (no pun intended) of crap all over the staring wheel and sides and stuff, so a rat must have gotten in when we were taking the garbage to the dump. Well the rat seems to be dead because a very strong odour started to show up in the van and well it just smells like death.
My dad looked into some of the openings and stuff but we havnt been able to find the dead rat and the smell has been there for a good 3-4 weeks now, frankly i cant stand it no more SO could anyone recommend anything I can do? I was thinking about bringing it to the dealer but im already thinking they'll charge a shit load or maybe to a local mechanic and see if he can find the rat. I also read online about an ozone machine that would beable to get rid of the smell but I have no clue where I can rent one. Any help would be greatly appreciated I dont know if breathing in this smell is healthy =(

Oh he drives a 03 chevrolet express if anyone has any mechanical experience with this van

I would pay for an exterminator..

Dead rats and decaying rat corpses can leak chemicals dangferous to your health i believe. Plus with the decaying body will probably come maggots!

Been trying but I have no idea the size of the rat but most likely rats would hide up somewhere warm in the vehicle right so today i might try and take a few things apart.

and my cats are too fat and lazy to do anything haha

A bear?

Ohhh ewww I can totally picture the smell... when I worked at Toys r Us we had TONS of mice/rats... they'd always crawl under the stuffed animal shelving units and die there. It smelled rancid :whoa

Good luck getting that out, I would totally make someone else do it hahahha, who cares how much it costs...

....that wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,
I don't know why she swallowed the fly,
Perhaps she'll die. "

I would say time to sell it to someone that can't smell.

vermins tend to nest where it's warm...chk your dad's van to see where's the spot that can hold some heat after you turn the car off...around the heater core? vents? on top of the engine bay but under some wiring?
