I brought my car into Gyro Mazda for a scheduled tune up and also to look at the light for the airbag which had mysteriously come on.
Turns out that the "Safety Belt pretentioner resistance is too high:" in other words, because the seat has been moved back and forth, the wiring on the buckle has frayed. ( See the TSB - http://www.finishlineperformance.com/pdf/mazda3/bulletin/08-001-07-1758.pdf)
Has anyone else seen this problem?

Also, the dealer wants $201 for the part! Anyone know a source where I could order one myself?

Thanks!

What year is the vehicle. The SRS system does run on longer than the basic warranty. SRS warranty is 60 months/100000km. The pretensioner would be included in the SRS portion of the warranty. I would definately look into this before shelling out any $$

It's an 04 (January) which is why they are telli g me that it's out of warrantee.
At least if I van find the part I can get it done at the local garage rather than spending their (high$ ) rate.
