So my friend wanted to test drive my car and i let him and i told him dont do crazy shit please, so he starts from the stop and snaps it he tried to power shift in 2nd gear and we heard a loud tok sound me on the passenger side it sounded like it came from the middle or back of the car and him he says it came from the engine compartment but the car seems ok i'm just scared that he broke something i dont know if any of you guys have any idea what it could be .

it could just be really violent engine movement...if you car blew a gasket or threw a rod, you'd know it...maybe you can provide us with more info like your mods and such...road condition might be a factor...a rock on the thin Mazda steel could sound like that too.

you probably just hard shifted.
i've done it a few times.

it's like wheel hop. but it only happens once when you shift. no repeatidly when you fail it doing a clutch drop. the car will be fine.

They do take quite a bit of abuse... if it seems like it is running okay you should be alright...

Did you have DSC turned off....if not and the roads were wet, the traction control may have kicked in and cut the power, it can be somewhat violent and make some interesting noises.

Sounds like the DSC when it engages hard. Did he redline it in 1st or 2nd? In any case, I'd punch him in the head, cause test drive or not, I would never do that in someone else's car...

:whoa This is why I never let anybody drive my car. I was lucky enough to be the only person to drive my speed since it hit the lot. Perks of working here. I drove it for a test then it went in the showroom, I took it out and took it home lol. I even bring it in the shop my self for service, I don't like any body getting behind the wheel.
