I took in my car for it's 24k service today. Once they had finished the oil change, they pointed out that the engine plate (the rubbery plastic plate that covers the bottom of the engine, to keep rocks from damaging it) was cracked. I had a look, and sure enough, there is a giant crack right in the middle of the plate.

I asked if this would be covered under warranty, but they said that it wouldn't because it would count as "physical damage". They stated that it could have been a large rock that damaged the plate, and the only way it would be covered under warranty is if they could prove there was some sort of factory defect.

Honestly, it's not a huge deal that this is cracked, it still does it's job. But it's bothering me that I haven't even had the car a year (11 months), and this is already broken. Has anyone else had any similar problems with this cover? Should I not worry about it, or should I push the dealership to replace it?
